BIOGRAPHY
I’ve loved to draw ever since I was a child doodling on the corners of my desk. I’ve loved animation ever since I first watched Naruto on the family tv in the living room. I’ve loved stories for as long as I can remember. Art has always been a big part of my life and one of my most expensive hobbies. I hope to dedicate my life to living freely and creating art that can impact and inspire others just as art had inspired me.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Natalie Matthias is a goofy goober with a very unserious attitude. Her found object sculptures depict the liminal line between the vividly mundane and the repressed fantastical. Her illustrations attempt to capture an expansive universe she’s been cultivating since childhood.

Using various materials I found around my room I created a small maquette that represents a small experimental chair in a dark room. The scene was meant to be used as a background for an animation.

This was a piece of concept art for the end of a long story I had been cultivating for years. I still haven’t worked out all the details in between but nevertheless, everyone gets a happy ending. I wanted to depict the story's two strongest characters finally earning some well-deserved rest, uninterrupted.
Natalie Matthias, Something Happened Here, Cardboard, wood, acrylic, Various found objects
Something Happened Here is another maquette of a small kitchen. This was to be used in an animation as well, where a grizzly murder was to take place. The homely, cozy atmosphere of the kitchen contrasts with the tragic nightmare that was soon to take place.
