Jingyi Wang is a digital media artist whose work explores perception, human cognition, and emotional storytelling through interactive and visual media. Her interest in art began after visiting an exhibition that explored the theme of visual bias, where she was captivated by how artists used cognitive illusions to create surprising works. Since then, she has viewed art as a way to express emotions and offer new perspectives.
With the theme of “self-worth”, this series of works explores the tension and reconstruction of the individual between social norms and inner emotions. This series of works is not intended to answer the question of “self-worth”, but rather a process of dialogue and inquiry. In the cycle of struggle, doubt, and remodeling, the individual tries to re-touch those parts that are the most real, the most fragile, and the most powerful.

My work “The Limitations of Single Thinking” combines painting and glitch art to explore the restricted state of the individual within the social framework and inherent concepts. The picture's main subject is a blindfolded man, who represents passive acceptance of information. At the same time, the hands are tightly wrapped around a red thread, which represents bounded thoughts and limited actions. After the creation of the original painting, I digitally processed the work using a glitch art generator to create visual disturbances such as breaks, ghosting, and color shifts.

This picture depicts a person running through a dark forest, her body is entangled in white lines, while the trees around her are filled with huge eyes that seem to be watching her struggles with indifference. I use mainly acrylics in red and black to enhance the emotional conflict, creating a sense of urgency to escape. The eyes represent society's judgment, and the white lines are both external restrictions and internal self-doubt.

In this piece, I used Blender to build a forest scene with soft lighting to create a surreal atmosphere. The wooden figure in the center represents self-consciousness; it stands quietly between the rocks and trees, surrounded by the outside world but not lonely. I hope this work will evoke in the viewer a feeling of association between self and environment.
