April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. I was put in charge of the visual for this year’s campaign promotion for SJSU Wellness Center. Lotus symbolizes resilience because it is a self-pollinating flower: once it dies, its seeds fall into the mud and grows a new one. The life cycle of a lotus reminds me of a rebirth, not to mention how lotus is heavily associated with healing. I incorporated lotuses in the all the designs for Sexual Assault Awareness Month to highlight the resilience and strength of sexual violence survivors/victims. If you fall, you can rise again. Be a lotus.

This zine discusses how colonialism impacted each country in Asia and the emigration to America overall. This includes actual experiences of immigration to America from some of our parents and grandparents.
The United States is referred to as a melting pot due to the variety of cultures immigrants have brought over to the country. With that notion, I wanted to capture the community and justice Asian immigrants have fought for to create an environment where the new generations of Asian Americans/immigrants can feel safe and valued.

This is an unused graphic–intended to be a social media post–for SJSU Survivor Advocacy Services. It didn’t get a green light, however, so I had to make some adjustments. I can see why this piece didn’t get approved, but I still like this graphic nevertheless. That’s why I’m showcasing it here! If you want to see a new, extended version of this graphic, please check out @sjsu_survivoradvocate on Instagram! And don’t forget to wear denim jeans every last Wednesday of April!
