BIOGRAPHY
Dietrich Steinberg is a Digital media artist, who was born in St. Louis and has lived on both coasts of the US. He first became exposed to Digital Media Art in my high school Career Technical Education classes. He felt passionate about these classes and the coursework due to the teacher and the coursework being fun and engaging. The reason he decided to be a Digital Media Art major in lieu of other majors related to Digital Media is because the Digital Media Art major will immerse you in subjects that he was already passionate about, and the Digital Media Art major helps grow fundamental and transferable skills in Digital Media. He wanted to develop these skills to the extent of having a more malleable and fulfilling career path.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My digital art consists of 2D graphics, videos, and websites. I constructed my 2D graphics using design tools and coding. My current work alludes to meme culture, my perspective on politics, predominantly about the environment or current events, something related to me, or content that I feel is entertaining. My work pertains to these subjects because they are relevant to my lived experience of growing up with access to the internet, growing up as a military brat, and having outdoorsy hobbies. These lived experiences have guided me to embrace the absurdity of the internet, be skeptical of military action, and prioritize preserving life and nature.
