Dale De Guzman, Dual Threat, 2023, Photoshop
Dual Threat is Dale’s version of a baseball trading card. Dale has been a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan and an even bigger baseball fan and has always wanted to create a piece that reflects his interest in the sport. He chose to incorporate two Japanese Major League Baseball legends into the piece, Ichiro Suzki and Shohei Ohtani. The artwork was created before Shohei Ohtani’s impending free agency during the 2023 offseason which is why he is depicted as a Los Angeles Angel. Ohtani ended up breaking Dale’s heart in December of 2023 as he chose to sign a 10-year, $700M contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers who are known to be the rivals of the San Francisco Giants.
