BIOGRAPHY
Annie He is currently a fourth year at San Jose State University, majoring in Art Studio Practice. She is a digital artist whose art style is mainly anime-style. She mostly does character concept designs, fan art, and digital illustrations. Anime and video games have inspired her to create characters with stories behind them, different aspects, elements, and details that share a part of what makes up the character. She hopes to one day contribute to the video game community and be able to create and develop character designs for new stories to be told through these video games.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Anime and video games inspired me into the artist I am today. It has always fascinated me how creative video game developers get with their character designs and how they can evoke such emotion through story-building and creation. Anime is also in the same boat with all the amazing animations and incredible story-building people can create through 2D animation. While they’ve influenced what I want to do today, I’m still trying to find a way to showcase myself as not many of my artworks have a “meaning,” or rather it is hard to make one. I’m more of the behind-the-scene type of person who creates for others rather than creating something for myself. So I am still trying to find my voice in the art world.
LONELY SPRING
Annie He & Kaitlin White, Lonely Spring, Digital Artwork, Mediband Pant Pro, 2000 x 2500 pixels, 2022
Digital Art piece meant to represent the Greek Mythology of Hades and Persephone where every year they spend half of the year apart. With the two reaching out towards each other, Persephone on the mortal surface and Hades back in the Underworld, it shows how much they miss each other during the time they are apart.
