Ledoslavian history

What today constitutes the territories of Ledoslavl was originally several smaller entities, some Frakian and some Trimanian. A Triman nobleman was given the village of Chernoe for his service in the war against the Black Magi og Kardomir. His sons attempted to expand their territory north and west, where no one had claim to the land. Setting up their trade more effectively, they were soon able to compete with Drevnedub in the pelt sales, and the fief grew richer and richer.

Finding mines 350 years ago made it possible to recruit other nobles and men at arms to the service of Ledoslavl. A castle was built near the mines, and soon the city of Moroznoe formed around the castle. At this time the lord of Ledoslavl was made boyar to the tzar of Triman, and married his daughters and sons to the children of kniazi of the realm. With it’s newfound power, the fief of Ledoslavl started a campaign to expand westward, offering silver to Frakian lords who would abandon their kingdom and swear fealty to Ledoslavl. This was a risky endeavour, however the Frakian kingdom was weak and the lords of Ledoslavl self confident. When Rudolf the 2nd became king of Frakia this changed. He declared war on Triman and demanded the lost territories back. Ledoslavl was hit hard, and gained little support from the rest of the kingdom. However, by marrying the daughter of the Trimanian Tzar, the lord of Ledoslavl secured support from the tsars army and fought off Rudolf the 2nd. A truce was reached, with Rudolf the 2nd marrying his daughter to the son of the tzar of Triman, who became tzar Vladimir the Cruel. After this, Frakia and Ledoslavl had only minor armed conflicts. The son of the lord of Ledoslavl and the tsars daugher was, by relation to the tsar, a kniaz of royal blood. He was even more ambitious than his father, and started to look for other ways to expand his realm. He started to raid the border of Drevnedub, trying to take the north-western villages of that province. To secure help against Drevnedub, he made an alliance with Frakia, marrying off his daughter to one of the Frakian princes When the Trimanian tzar died, the kniaz of Ledoslavl attempted to seize some of the Tzars land as well, however this campaign has had mixed success. The first kniaz of Ledoslavl was killed in a battle with Drevnedub. It is now up to his son, the 2nd kniaz of Ledoslavl to live up to the family name. He has a claim to the throne, and has an army that could seize and hold the capitol of Triman. So far, he has not made any moves towards the capitol.
