Trade and occupations

Hunting and wood industry are amongst the chief trades in Drevnedub. The area is poorly suited for growing crops, however most commoners hold goats and chickens for milk and eggs. Hunting is legal for commoners in Drevnedub, except for hunting of bears that are considered sacred. Goods exported out of Drevnedub are mostly done by an ARTEL, which resembles a guild, but is smaller and has no hierarchy. The goods are traded by a representative for the ARTEL who is seen as no different from any other member of the ARTEL. Despite this division of goods, the Drevnedubians are still poor, having to import much of their food and giving far more to their churches than what is good for an individuals economy. Growing rich in Drevnedub is seen as sinful, and anyone gaining surplus is expected to donate it away. This has led even the kniaz court to be more than modest, especially compared to the courts of other kniazi. The town and village guards are also organised as an ARTEL, with all being equal and the leader of the day being whoever is first present at the site of attack. When gathered together as the full irregular army, the irregular army will re-elect the Kniaz to prove their support and trust in his leader skills and the Kniaz chooses offisers among them.

In Drevnedub, one is considered adult at 16. One is then able to vote at the village meetings and can join the militia. While considered adults at 16, most drevnedubians don't marry before they are in their late 20s

Drevendub lacks gender equality. All important positions will be expected to be held by men. Exception to this is the council of elders, where both genders are equal.

The second exception is the irregular army. Women are allowed to bear arms, the same as men. Because of the civil war, many women have fought in battles as part of the irregular army. Several of these women now want a position in the bogatyr guard or as officers, but have so far been denied it.
