Trade and occupation

Gradoslavl has the largest and most fertile farmland of all the provinces. They see themselves as the province feeding the rest of the country. In addition they have many craftsmen, particularly doing well with smithing, pottery and tailoring. Some become sailors or fishermen. Merchants from Gradoslavl travel to the other provinces, to Frakia, the Southern Islands and even to Vesans, the Confederacy of Zoar and the kingdom of Antállus.

Many Gradoslavians find work as guards at the castles and cities of the province, or even as knights of the kniaz.

While nobility is important in Gradoslavl, one can get far on talent alone. The kniaz seeks out the most talented from the schools of the church and offers them positions in the administration of the kniaz. The same way, one can become a knight either through birth rank or by showing talent in battle. In both situations one can be made a squire to a knight, who teaches the squire. Some also seek out knights and ask them to be trained, something that usually results in tests. The relevanse of the tests is usually based on how much the knight wants another squire and the knights cruelty and vanity

In Gradoslavl, one becomes adult only at the age of 21. Then one can become a soldier, or should have finished the training period at a Guild. Before coming of age, one can take a training position as a squire, at a ship, or become a servant. Most Gradoslavians marry when coming of age or soon after, mostly in their early 20s.

Gradoslavl has more gender equality the higher up in society one is. A nobleman or noblewoman can choose to be a knight, a stay at home father/mother, scientist or merchant.

If you are middle class, ou can take any trade you want, however it is unusual to find female soldiers and female manual labourers

The lower classes are expected to live and die in the gutter, so they don't have much options any way.
