Drevnedub has always led an isolationist policy, not participating in the intrigues of the court of Triman and expecting in return no meddling in it’s internal affairs. For the kniaz of Drevnedub to appear at the Council of Nobles, the country had to be under the threat of war or famine, or an important church or state event was to happen.

Drevnedub has territorial disputes with the province of Ledoslavl, who attempt to expand their holdings. The fortress-cathedral of Sviatogor borders to Drevnedub, and Drevnedub has often come to aid to the church when needed the most, while in times of peace squabbling terribly with the church. Because of the commoners right to bear arms, the kniaz of Drevnedub has in times of war been able conscript a competent army rivalling the army of the tsar. The Drevnedub society is very patriarchal, even though females are allowed to speak and vote in the various councils and can hold position as village elders. Still, a father figure almost always leads the extended family, the bogatir of the kniaz are men, and there has never been a Kniaginia ruling. However, due to the death of many men in the civil war, some women has taken more prominent positions in the society, challenging the mens rule and demanding positions of power. There are also rumours that one of the bogatir serving the kniaz is actually a woman. Women have the same right to bear arms as men in Drevnedub, and many participated in the irregular army of Drevnedub during the civil war. They have however a hard time to rise to command positions. Since the kniaz of Drevnedub was declared a traitor and cut off from the inheritance to the throne, any claim presented by the current kniaz is very weak. It is also unlikely that the kniaz himself would want the throne. On the other hand, any candidate backed by the kniaz would be a strong candidate due to Drevnedubs military possibilities and probable backing of the candidate by the church
