The province of Drevnedub is one of the oldest entities in what became the country of Triman. The province is ruled by a council of village and city elders (not to be confused with the church elder), with the Kniaz being responsible for leading the militia in defence of the duchy and head negotiator with the rest of the kingdom. He is also leader of the order of Bogatir, a fellowship of warriors taking an oath to serve Svarog and the realm. Drevnedub has no sages of Svarog, with all religious rituals being handled by the elders. The Drevnedubians are said to worship other beings in addition to Svarog, like angels, powerful ancestors and woodland spirits Drevnedub has always had a special status in Triman and have been quite isolationistic for the last 400 years. Their way to rule internally has not been accepted by the rest of Triman, and the court insist on treating the Kniaz as the ruler, ignoring the council of elders. Drevnedub is not the favourite for the throne, however with a large militia at it's call, they might very well win the civil war. Drevnedubians hold it important to respect ones elders, which means that while everyone gets to speak their mind on an issue, the final word belongs to the oldest person amongst those gathered. His or her decision will stand, and not following it is almost unheard of.
