It is said that Trim was a wanderer. No one knows when or where he was born, only that his people were hunters. Trim wandered far and wide with his spear, hunting animals. One day he had chased a goat far and wide, but could not come close enough to throw his spear at it. When evening drew near, he had still not succeeded and thought he would go hungry that day. He found a stream in the forrest where he at least could drink, for he was thirsty. While he was drinking, he noticed he was not alone in the forrest. An old man had come to the stream. Trim at once grabbed his spear, for he believed everyone in the forrest could be dangerous. The old man just smiled at Trims reaction, before sitting down to get some water for himself. “Why don’t you fear me” asked Trim. For he believed everything that didn’t attack him did so because of fearing him. “Why should I?” smiled the old man: “Are you intending to attack me?” Trim could not answer. Of course he would not attack the old man. However, how could the old man know that? “I’m hungry. I could have attacked you” he replied instead “Would it not be better to ask for food?” the old man inquired “Or are you willing, as the beasts of the Black Serpent, to kill of your own kind?” Trim denied to be willing to be like a beast and in stead asked the old man for food. The old man then lead him to a clearing in the forrest and pointed to the plants growing there: “Here you have food” Trim was surprised, for he ate only meat. The old man taught him how to turn plants into food, and then showed him how to sow and grow plants. Trim was amazed and asked if he could teach his tribe how to sow. The old man smiled and said that nothing would please him more. Trim asked then: “What is your name, old man? I wist to know it, for you have taught me more to survive in a day than anyone has in a month. “My name is Svarog” the old man replied. And then he was gone. Trim traveled back to his tribe and showed them what Svarog had learned him. His tribe made a settlement and started to farm the land where Svarog had shown Trim how to grow seeds. The place was called Trims place by his tribe, and the river passing by the farmland for Trims river.
