We have a lively meeting this past Monday. Lauren and I were there and we welcomed a visitor from Massachusetts, Rick. It was great to meet him and he drove all the way up from Lowell, spent the day in Acadia, then stopped by Dysart's for the dinner and meeting on his way home! Only "the young" can do that kind of driving in one day! Anyway, it's always great to hear from new PWS and their experiences. We shared around the table at first as usual. Lauren gearing up for her senior year and research and capstone... she will be a busy gal! Marybeth had busy summer with family and a 50th wedding celebration, and gearing up to present to the Maine Speech Language Hearing Assoc. in November. Rick moved to Mass. from California and has been to NSA meetings both in Northern and Southern California. He is enjoying learning about New England and wondering what the winter will be like. He is starting some speech therapy this week at BU. I had brought an article on Mindful Self Compassion that was published in the 2017 International Stuttering Awareness Day Online Conference. This article takes "Mindfullness" in a further directions, directing thoughts towards just basically "turning the thoughts to being good to yourself". We only had time to discuss it a bit.
Here is the link for you all.
