Four of us met last night at Dysart's. The restaurant was quieter than usual, so it was easy for all of us to converse. We shared what we've been doing and how our speaking has been. What's it like in a conversation? For some of us, once we start stuttering we spiral into more, and that doesn't feel good. What to do? Advertising works for some of us; reminding ourselves that it matters less to the listener than we think it does; practicing our techniques desensitizes us to the discomfort; pseudo stuttering gives us control. It was a good, real, intimate discussion.
