To report on last night's NSA zoom meet up, it was fantastic to have 6 squares in the zoom window! It was great to finally get to meet Debbie Bennett, the leader of two ( yes, I said 2!!!) NSA chapters in New Hampshire (East and West). We loved hearing her insights and contributions to the discussions from a "non-stuttering SLP's" perspective! She will send us a link to her New Hampshire meetings and we are all invited. Also on the screen were Natalie, Chris, Andy, Rick (listening in his car), Ravi, and myself. It was great to see Ravi again and knowing that our NSA Chapter always will have the "porch light on" for all our members (old, new, regular, spotty, on/off, whatever). We basically just went around and discussed topics as they came up. GEESH, my brain's a bit foggy at the moment and I didn't take notes. I do remember one topic was about how different categories of relationships with our speaking partners often determine our level of stuttering (or not stuttering). We were all over the map in this regard AS some felt more comfortable with family and therefore stuttered more (just relaxing and not hiding it and for others it was the opposite, in that being with family produced less stuttering. And vice versa and backwards the opposite! So, go figure. This is what makes getting clear results from "research" very difficult, but makes all of us unique and wonderful in our own way.
