We missed a bunch of you on Monday, but Chris and I had a great discussion; although we did cut the meeting a bit short!  We talked alot about "openly stuttering" and being able to be an advocate for changing society's attitude. We talked about some of the notions presented in the papers at the ISAD Online Conference. And yes, society needs to change and be more accepting so that stuttering is not "stigmatizing". That said, we as people who stutter play an important role in helping to change others' attitudes. The more others can hear us stuttering without fear and with acceptance. The more that attitude will be transferred to our listeners. That said, we also realized and discussed the "balance" between being such an advocate while also needing to successfully navigate daily situations to communicate successfully. Sometimes it does pay off to "be convert" and just get through any specific event in order to "get what we need" from the other person, if that makes sense. So each to his own and there is a balance that will be different for everyone.
