Blyth Town  0-1  Heaton Stannington

Friendly

Stan continued their winning streak making it 5 pre-season friendlies won in a row

Both keepers had little to do in the opening 18 minutes, apart from home keeper Lewis Baker diving to finger tip a Danny Sayer shot around his post

But on 18 minutes Robbie Dale felled Leighton Hopper inside the area, but Dale took a quick step back out of the area, and a free kick was awarded. However, Stan were not to be denied, with Konner Lamb hitting an unstoppable shot into top far corner 0-1. That’s 13 goals in 6 friendly games for him.

On 25 minutes Lamb had a surging run down the left, crossed deep for Sayer to head back for Leighton Hopper to head goalwards with Dale managing to head away of his goal line.

Sean Reid hit a free kick narrowly over the bar, and Lamb blazed over as well following excellent work from Sayer.

Joseph Gibson smashed a volley that Kane Evans deflected for a corner, and former Stan midfielder Max Cowburn tried a long range shot that went just past the upright.

Nearing the interval Lewis Brass showed again his class as he denied Dan Wilson twice, first a shot that went low into his hands, and then he dived full length to deny his low shot, finger tipping around his post.

H.T. 0-1

Baker denied a second goal, when Jordan Lashley (on for Burns) played a delightful ball through for Lamb with his shot saved by the keepers legs

Sayer on 63 minutes had a shot deflected over the bar by Dale

The usual high number of substitutions, with Stan having to replace Reid who had taken a knock on 65 minutes

A strong workout for both sides, with both showing they will be looking for a top place when the real fixtures begin.
