Stokesley Sports Club 1-3 Heaton Stannington

Northern League Division 2

The regular match reporter was unable to attend the match but did not envisage the difficulties that occurred in obtaining a match report. Three potential reports were arranged but none were completed and none of the four local newspapers had reports in them. The website was even originally given the wrong score. But not all the match information has disappeared into the Cleveland Triangle and I am pleased to be able to shout out that the Stan achieved their third away win in a row and are on a run of four games undefeated. There was also only one change from the Ryton game which has not been the case for much of the season.

The game was one of few chances with neither keeper being tested much. The Stan though made sure the match was going their way though when Hoggins gave them a 1-0 lead. The home side’s Edwards scored an equaliser from a corner and it was 1-1 at half time. In the second half, the Stan restored their lead when Hoggins scored again. This was Ritchie’s sixth goal in three games. Ben Telford then added another goal to make it 3-1 to the Stan. The Stan can now look forward to a home tie on Saturday against South Shields.
