General News:
Home and Lot Sales:
HOA members and renters, please continue to keep your yards mowed and landscaping kept up throughout the year. Two more homes have sold in our neighborhood, two more are on the market for sale, as well as two lots. Judy Hamner reported that in the last 60 days that there are 7 new homeowners. Welcome to the new families.
As more home sales continue, the HOA would like to thank everyone for continuing to make this neighborhood beautiful with keeping up their landscaping so that the entire neighborhood will continue to thrive in the real estate market in the coming years.
Pam Dunn who lives on Castlerock wants to thank all the neighbors that read the last HOA newsletter updates. She was very happy that so many neighbors contacted her and purchased many of the items that she had for sale. The good news is she has sold her home and now has larger items for sale as listed:
· -Bedroom Set
· - Kitchen Table with 6 Chairs
· - Desk
· - Two Book Cases
· - Coffee Tables
If interested in any of the items, call Pam at 360-306-1548 and she can send interested parties photos of the items and discuss pricing.
Paved Pull Outs for Parking and Grass Boulevards:
As a reminder, WRS maintains the grass boulevards and when cars park on the grass it can be an additional costly repair on grass boulevards. Part of everyone’s dues pays for this maintenance and some neighbors want family members and guests to be reminded of this. Please inform guests, landscapers, and vendors doing repairs to park in the paved pullouts when driveways are full. Also, homeowners need to remind family members and guests of this rule when driveways are full too.
May 11th Board Meeting Canceled:
The May 11th Board Meeting at this time is being canceled due to Social Distancing rules. The meeting maybe rescheduled at a later time possibly.
May 1st (Friday- May Day Children’s Activity in the Neighborhood 11:00-11:30am at the entrance by the golf course)
A May Day Activity to get kids out of the house this Friday has been planned. Kids and their parents and/or guardians are invited to come participate in a May Day Planting Activity. Each child is to bring their favorite annual or perineal flower to plant in two large whiskey barrel planters that are located at the gated entrance near the golf course. Kids can have fun planting their plant and watching it grow this spring and summer. We are hoping that by having kids and families invested in the beauty of the neighborhood that they can get out doors for a short while and learn some names of flowers too. Plus, they are then becoming invested in learning to volunteer in their neighborhood to by donating a plant.
During this activity, Social Distancing will be taking place with three volunteers marking tape on the street to instill safe distancing of 6 feet or more as kids take turn planting their plant in the barrels.
The volunteers are also asking each child bring their own small hand shovel to use and gloves too for safety so they are not passing germs around. If someone does not have gloves there will be plastic gloves available to hand out too and a bag to dispose them in after too. It is also encouraged (optional) to wear a mask too.
Kids will line up with a volunteer assisting the kids taking turns planting their selected flowering plant in the two different whiskey barrels. The volunteer neighbors of Paty Williams who lives at Sienna Court, Laura Howell who lives on Castlerock Drive, and Kathy Barnes (myself) who lives on Cambridge Loop will be assisting kids planting their flowers.
What will be nice is to give kids a chance to volunteer in our community and watch their flowers grow over the summer. In the last five years there has been an increase of kids and teenagers that have moved into the neighborhood and this is a chance for others to join in celebrating this activity in a safe planned way. We ask that parents and/or guardians attend as well to assist with their kids in understanding Safe Social Distancing rules.
It is not mandatory, but encouraged for families to RSVP the number of kids that will be participating so the volunteer neighbors can mark with tape ahead of time Social Distancing spacing around the gate entry and exit locations where the whiskey barrels are located. Please kindly reply with the names of the kids and/or teenagers that will be attending at barnesfern@comcast.net by Friday May 1st, no later than 9:00am. Thank you!
For future news to be listed, please send information that you would like to submit to the newsletter and neighborhood updates to barnesfern@comcast.net.
Best Regards,
Kathy Barnes
