We wanted to add a couple of updates with everything that is going on in the world:
Playgrounds across the State are closed. This does include the Sargent Park. We do not have the staff or the disinfectants to keep the equipment free of germs. Do please feel free to use the open spaces and trails responsibly and DO clean up after your dogs (and remove the waste: leaving bags of doggie doo along the trail is grossly negligent).
Irrigation water has NOT been released into the Main Ditch yet. Once it has, it takes Grand Valley Irrigation Company several days to flush out the main ditches and then they will take appointments to open headgates. It will then take several days to flush out the laterals before the water will get to our tank and we can begin our process of starting up the pumps and pressurizing the Main Lines to check for breaks. Our system is usually up and running about midway through April and unless COVID19 precautions slow GVIC down, our system should be up and running about mid-April this year as well.
Take this time to check your timers and make sure your Main Valve is closed. Every year someone floods themselves (and their neighbors) and slows down the process, but we’re hoping since a lot of folks are home right now that things will run smoother this year.
