The first day of October ushered in cool enough temperatures that frost could be seen on the rooftops. We will be placing the brightly colored “Close Your Main Valve” signs around the neighborhood to remind neighbors to dial back their watering times and reach out to their favorite landscaper to schedule a time to blow out their sprinkler system.
Each resident is responsible for their own sprinkler system: winterization of sprinkler and swamp cooler systems is not a service provided by the Cotton Woods HOA. Residents of the Townhomes III sub-association need not worry as their Board has scheduled their common area landscape winterization.
There is not an exact date set to turn the pumps off, the overnight temperatures and weather will be the determining factors, but we anticipate about two more weeks of water before the HOA begins it’s winterization process. We will keep you updated here.
Don’t let irrigation slip your mind because cooler temperatures are here! We had a phenomenal water year this year, but overdevelopment of adjacent fields along out lateral ditch threatens future delivery of our water shares. Please consider participating in the City of Fruita Ten Year Draft Plan, and let the City know how you feel about future land development around our neighborhood. There is an event October 3rd from 4:00 to 7:30pm at the Civic Center Park where you can voice your opinion and grab some free food.
