Awerkamp family. Many wives including Carol and Elaine, wives of club
members Bill and Bliss, came to hear our unique speaker from the
Goddess museum. Several members from the museum staff were also
present.
Membership: Welcome to our newest member Bob Gowen. We now have
67 paid up members for 2015.
Announcements:
Our CD matures Oct.16 and we have a maximum 10 days to decide on a
new plan for the money.
Old and New Business: A reminder: Chris Caldwell is interested in your
comments about the type of coins that we raffle off at each meeting. We
want to offer coins that you really want to win! I have received notice from
the Costa Mesa Recreation department that our room will be available for
all CY 2016. I have completed the necessary paperwork to reserve our
current room and existing meeting days. I have submitted the paperwork to
renew our membership in ANA using their discount membership form,
saving us the $75 annual dues, similar to last yearʼs renewal.
Donations: Thanks to the many members who continue to support our
club with their regular donations. This is a good time to thank Manny and
Beret for always supporting our club at their Huntington Beach coin store.
These contributions and support are greatly appreciated.
Education Program: Our guest speaker was Rev. Ava Park, Founder and
Curator of The Museum of Goddess History and Culture . Ava is an international
expert in goddess mythology, history, culture and lore, and provided us many
interesting facts about the history of selected female deities on coins, including a
discussion of the hidden historical background of “Lady Liberty.” Rev Park’s
discussion was very interesting and she did an excellent job interweaving goddess
mythology with everything from ancient coinage up to modern US coinage.
Thanks to Rev. Park, Stan Gibson and Mike Ontko for arranging this interesting
program.
Prizes: Bliss won the Dos Pesos gold and Lynn won the 1/10th oz. gold. I
am again exposing their secret to consistent winning- BUY TICKETS.
Future Coin Shows: Note that the next North County Coin Show willl NOT be
held in October. See our club website for more details and a full listing of all
Southern California coin shows: www.occoinclub.com .
Respectfully submitted,
Bill Pfeifer, Secretary , Greater Orange County Coin Club
