Minutes of April 2012 Meeting
Membership and Guests:
Dues for 2012 are now payable. We currently have 63 paid members, counting family members. Our latest renewals are the Skocilic and Velarde family memberships. Remember, you must be an active member (dues paid up) to participate in all drawings and auctions. I will publish a list of all unpaid members in a separate mailing this month as a reminder for those still owing 2012 dues.
Announcements:
Our Bourse Night will be held on June 12 this year. Reserve your table early if you plan to be a seller of your coins and memorabilia.
San Diego Coinarama July 14-15. (See future meetings calendar).
Raffle tickets for the July 14-15 Golden States Coin Show are now being sold with our club getting ½ of the proceeds (see Jeff for tickets).
Old and New Business:
Dan Jimerson has been elected and installed as our new treasurer.
Laura continues to maintain our club website. Please review our latest progress.
There will be no coffee service at future meetings since we have been unable to get a volunteer.
Donations:
Many club members continue to donate worthy items for our club auctions, and our club really appreciates this continuing generosity. Mike, Larry, Shep and Manny (HB Coin Exchange) were our latest donors. Manny has been a long time supporter of our club. Please reward his continuing generosity by stopping by his coin shop at the Stater Bros Shopping Center, 10122 Adams Ave., Huntington Beach. He has the largest bid board in all Orange County.
Meeting Program:
Aprilʼs educational program featured Mike Ontko with a presentation entitled “ Itʼs Good to be King; Coinage of King Louis XIV of France.” It was a very entertaining talk filled with many historical anecdotes about King Louisʼ over 70 years reign. Mike kept us laughing about all the kingʼs exploits and the many coins minted during his era. The talk was extremely interesting and informative and well done! Again, we have come to expect this level of quality from Mike. This is one of the many advantages of belonging to the Greater Orange County Coin Club, so many experts to help all our members.
Gold Coin Prize Winners:
Dos Pesos: Ron Shepherd
1/10 oz: Elaine DeMoray
