Minutes of October 9, 2012 Meeting
Membership and Guests:
We currently have 76 paid members.
Announcements:
None.
Old and New Business:
Our current room and Tuesday meeting night have been reserved at the Costa Mesa Community Center for CY 2013.
Our website currently includes several interesting articles on Eisenhower dollars, prestige proof sets, the 1999 Susan B. Anthony dollar coin story and many others.
Next monthʼs meeting will be our Christmas potluck. As a reminder, the January banquet will be held at Moonlight Pizza and Chicken in Fountain Valley on January 27, 2013.
Donations:
Kyle Ponterio of Stacks, Bowers and Ponterio donated a large quantity of coin albums, catalogs, coin boxes and other supplies which are being auctioned as time permits. Our club really appreciates this continuing generosity of Kyle and many other club members.
Meeting Program:
Mark Baskin presented a very informative talk on "Fractional Currency". Mark did a nice job describing the 1865 civil war-driven necessity for fractional currency and presented many examples. This is one of the many advantages of belonging to our club. The expertise in US and foreign coins and currency seems unlimited and everyone is very helpful and eager to share their knowledge. Mikeʼs management of our educational programs demonstrates this every meeting.
Prizes:
Glen Franks won the Dos Pesos gold.
Future Coin Shows:
See our Events Calendar or Gary Beedonʼs California Show List for a comprehensive listing of California coin shows.
