Speaker: David Schwager “Four Key Dates in U.S. Coin Collecting”

A key date coin elevates a set from ordinary to extraordinary, expanding and

permanently changing a collection. There are key dates not only in U.S. coins, but also

in the history of U.S. coin collecting. Events in these years expanded and permanently

changed the way we collect coins in America.

Minutes of February 2013 Meeting

Membership and Guests: Kerry Johnson attended as a guest. We currently have 54

members paid for CY 2013. Please pay your dues now; otherwise you will be

considered delinquent and lose all membership privileges.

Announcements: CSNA Educational Symposium April 27 in Claremont. SoCal Coin

and Currency show in Ontario July 18-20.

Old and New Business: Proposed bylaws have been sent out and we are awaiting

your inputs and comments. Laura continues to maintain our club website

<www.occoinclub.com> and we thank her for the continued support.

Donations: A generous club member recently donated $50 for dues for five worthy and

needy individuals and I recently sent a notice requesting nominations from all our

membership. Our club really appreciates this type of generosity and the continuing

donations from many other club members.

Meeting Program: Jeff Stahl presented a very interesting and informative talk on

Copper and Brass Mexican Coinage. Jeff did a nice job describing the complexity and

evolution of this type of early Mexican coinage. This talk was a good example of our

continuing commitment to educating our membership.

Prizes: One of our new members, Reinhard, won our drawing for the 1/10th oz. Gold

coin. Congratulations Reinhard!
