Balancing Figure

Description

Create an acrobat balancing on a structure made of primitives while holding a balance beam.

Prerequisites

  • Viewport Navigation
  • Creating & Manipulating Primitives
  • Creating Materials

Instructions

Making the Scene

  1. Add a floor.
  2. Create a cube, rest it on the floor.
  3. Create a cone, place it on top of the cube.
  4. Create a sphere, place it on top of the cone.
  5. Create a figure primitive, stand it on top of the sphere.
  6. Create a Cylinder, make it long and skinny and position it in front of the figure like a balance pole/rod.
  7. Add two Torus objects and balance them on the ends of the pole.

Make it Colorful

  1. Create a new material.
  2. Change it’s color.
  3. Apply it to the cube.
  4. Repeat 1-3 for all objects in your scene.
  5. Add a Physical Sky to your scene in order to ground your character with shadows.

Make it Dynamic

  1. Make the figure editable (select it, then tap ‘C’ on your keyboard).
  2. Move & rotate your objects to make the poses more dynamic.
  3. Add a camera to your scene and adjust it’s framing and focal length in order to create an exciting image.
