Modeling a Tennis Court

[edit] Court

  1. Add a cube to your scene
  2. Rename it "Court"
  3. Resize it using actual tennis court dimensions
    1. X = 36ft
    2. Y = 6in
    3. Z = 78ft
  4. Set it's P.Y = -3in

[edit] Net

  1. Add a plane for the net
  2. Rename it "Net"
  3. Change the orientation of the plane to -Z
  4. Set Size.X = 36ft
  5. Set Size.Y = 3.5ft

[edit] Ball

  1. Add a sphere to your scene
  2. Rename it "Tennis Ball"
  3. Radius = 3.35 cm

  1. Go to your content browser.
  2. Go to your presets (ink well icon)
  3. Activate search (magnifying glass).
    1. If it's already on, turn it off, and turn it back on.
  4. Search for "tennis"
  5. Drag in the tennis ball.
  6. Delete the new tennis ball.
  7. Drag the tennis ball material onto your tennis ball.

[edit] Net

  1. Create a new material.
  2. Double click on the name to rename it "Net".
  3. Double click on the material preview ball to open the material editor.
  4. Make the color a very dark blue R=0, G=1, B=14
  5. Activate the Alpha channel.
  6. Click on the delta (triangle) next to textures. Textures->Surface->Tiles
  7. Set the Grout color to white and all tiles colors to black.
  8. Set Grout Width to 10%
  9. Set Bevel Width to 10%
  10. Active the Bump channel.
  11. Copy the tiles shader from the alpha to the bump.
    1. Click on the delta in the alpha channel next to texture.
    2. Select "Copy Channel"
    3. Go to the bump page.
    4. Texture->Paste Channel
  12. Edit the Tiles shader
    1. Grout Width = 5%
    2. Bevel Width = 35%
  13. Drag material onto the net object.

[edit] Net Positioning

  1. Click on the net material tag on the net object.
  2. Set length U to 10%.

[edit] To Elminate Texture Buzz

  1. Go into render settings.
  2. Go to Anti-aliasing
  3. Set Anti-Aliasing to Best
  4. Min Level = 2x2
  5. Max Level = 8x8

[edit] Download a Court Texture

  1. Do a google image search for tennis court texture.
  2. You're looking for a top-down view of a tennis court that is royalty free.
  3. Right-click Save Image As
  4. Save it to the same folder as
