Poetry In Motion
For this assignment, students are going to be creating a movie in Windows Movie Maker that brings a piece of poetry to life. They will be using pictures, words, and music to accomplish this feat. They have already experienced a tutorial with these ideas (if you haven't, check the tutorial page!); now is the time to bring them to life.
There are several steps to this process:
The students are to choose their favorite piece of poetry. If you're not typically a poetry fan, I recommend the works of Shel Silverstein (examples of his poetry located here, here, and here). Bring this poem to class.
Slice this poem into at least ten sections. This can be done by lines, phrases, or ideas--it all depends on what your preference is.
Use Google Image Search to find pictures that relate to each of these sections. There is a minimum of one picture per section, but you may want to find more!
Use the student music drive to locate appropriate instrumental music to use in the background of your presentation. Remember, if your poem is sad, find a sad song. For happy, find an upbeat one.
Use Movie Maker to create a "moving poem" using these sounds, words, and pictures.
Necessities:
Between 1-2 minutes
Minimum of 20 slides (10 words, 10 pictures)
Brisk pace (think about the ones we watched in class)
Appropriate background music included
Use at least 3 effects and 3 transitions.
A title page with the poem author's name
A "credits" page, including your name, the poem author's name, and the music/artist used.
Can I do this extra credit from home?: TOTALLY YES
