Let's get to work on that I, Candy assignment! It seems daunting, but think of it like this: you're not learning any new skills to apply to this assignment. Instead, you're simply applying skills that you're already masters of in a few different ways. If you want to bring in a candy bar to psych yourself up (and to get measurements from (and to eat because it's delicious)), do so! If you're curious, the Hershey's bar wrapper is 6.5 inches long and 5 inches tall. The logo and name on the front are 2x6, and the last 3 inches are split on the back. We'll be working on this assignment until 2/12.

We're starting to put the pieces together in this class as we move along to the I, Candy assignment. This assignment combines our understandings of Google Docs and Paint.NET and synthesizes them to make you into future moguls. Use business savvy, impressive design skills, and your understanding of the programs to this point in order to create a delicious candy bar! Today's class consisted of research and work for the I, Candy project. We talked our way through how to wrap pictures on the Google Docs tutorial (located here). You won't need to watch the whole tutorial unless you don't know how to use Google Docs at all; all that's necessary for our in-class segments is 4:03-5:48. We also talked through how to create citations with Citation Machine.
We will be working on this assignment until February 12, so do well!

Let's finish the tutorial! The end of this tutorial introduces students to the head-swapping mechanic that we will be using for the project. I will take another process grade on the work students do today in class with the tutorials. In addition, I will review the specifics of the assignment with the students in class today.

In class today we start on Paint.NET, and we'll handle it deftly with a beginner's tutorial, which can be found here. We're not watching the entire video today (we will split it between today and Monday), but students will be doing some practice on the program today. We are going to use this information to eventually complete the Adventure Image project.

Today, we watched a tutorial about basic computer functions. For many students, this was a review--but for some, this is the first time they've encountered these specific computer skills. The tutorial is located here. We will also review my webpage to assure that students understand where and how to find everything on it.
