Uncovering History: Our 4th and 5th Grade Research Project!
Get ready to journey through time! Our 4th and 5th graders are stepping into the shoes of real historians for an exciting, interdisciplinary social studies research project titled Echoes of Our Past: A Historical Journey. Driven by the question, "How did a significant event in United States history shape the nation, and what lessons can we learn from it today?" students are taking full ownership of their learning by selecting a brand-new historical topic to explore—ranging from the Manhattan Project to the Panama Canal. Through hands-on inquiry, young researchers will formulate deep questions, dive into digital databases and primary print sources, analyze historical photos, and master the art of proper citations while avoiding plagiarism. Combining history, written composition, digital technology, and graphic design, students will transform their findings into structured, detailed informational writing. Finally, using Canva, they will design stunning visual timeline posters featuring customized background layouts, borders, and curated images. After refining their work through peer feedback and practicing their oral presentation skills, students will showcase their final creations in a public exhibition, coming together to build a complete, collaborative U.S. history timeline!
