April 22 - It's the first time we have had QUEST in weeks! Today we had to finish our notes. After that we started our project plan. It was a very busy day.
March 25, 2024- Today we did our first day of research on world issues for a PSA (Public Service Announcement). Our word of the day was odious meaning hated and our book consultant was Charles. Also we did new last man standing cards. Overall this was a very fun day! See you next week!

March 4 - Today's word of the day is singular meaning unique. Our book consultant was Marcus and he showed us the book series Battle Dragons. We also are getting ready to do a project about global issues and now we are answering question/ getting ready to answer questions. We did a riddle called "Can you Solve the Airplane Riddle?". Today was an amazing day here at quest.
February 26 - Caleb was our book consultant. He presented the Storm Runner Series. It seems pretty awesome. We did a Socratic Seminar on world issues such as lead in the water of Flint, Michigan or bees going extinct. The word of the week was acute meaning sharp. At the end of the day, we were writing ideas for PSAs (Public Service Announcements). Quest was very fun today! Eli and Harrison
February 24 - We have finally finished our poems! Yippee! We have prepared for our Socratic Seminar and will have it on Monday. Hasan and Amy were are book consultants. We have learned about all 16 Habits of Mind and will continue to use them when learning.
January 22 - The word of the day was placid meaning calm. Today we learned about imagery and how to use it in creating poetry. We started our own poems with symbolism and imagery. We also learned about some of the current world issues such as poverty, human rights, and global warming.

December 18 - Today we built the Ferris Wheels! This was the most challenging build yet! Enjoy the videos below.
December 4th - The word of the day was din. Caleb was our book consultant and he talked about the series, The Keeper of the Lost Cities. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Gathering Information Through our Senses. Our next STEM challenge will be mechanical engineering. We are going to build a functioning Ferris Wheel. We listened to a picture book about the first Ferris Wheel, Mr. Ferris and his Wheel.
November 27 - The word of the day was allude. Andrew was our book consultant. He presented the book Thirst. We built the electric circuits around our towers. It was difficult but looked really cool at the end.
Today is November 13. Sophie was the book consultant and presented The Mysterious Benedict Society. She gave the book five stars. The word of the week is amiable meaning friendly. Amy (one of the kids in our class and Mrs. M) means beloved or friend. The habit of mind is applying past knowledge to a new situation. We read the book Energy Island and used a making thinking visible strategy called 3Y's. Lastly, we experimented with circuits. We have to light up our towers for our next STEM challenge. It was a lot of fun!
🦃Today is November 6. This weeks word was wistful. This means to have sadness. Today we built the STEM Challenge Towers out of 50 packing peanuts and 100 toothpicks. We would place the tower in front of a fan and go through 3 intensities. This would start 1.5 meters away before moving it to 1 meter than 0.5 meters. Below are links to videos.🦃

🎃Today is October 30. Quest was really fun today. Eli SL was the book consultant and he presented a book called "The Secret Lake." This weeks classical word is prodigious, which means huge. Today we designed skyscraper made out of toothpicks and packing peanuts and voted amongst our groups on which design was the best. Next week we build. 🎃
Today is Monday, October 16th 2023. Terry was book consultant, he presented The Wild Robot as today's Consultants. We found out there is a third book in the Wild Robot series! The word from this week was eccentric and from last week was livid. The habit of mind was Questioning and Posing Problems. Today we wrote our questions for next week's Seminar. We learned all about the difference between deep, open-ended questions and closed questions. The best part of today was the STEM challenge. We had to build the tallest tower possible out of index cards, but the tower had to hold three pounds. It was harder than it seemed. - Tanush and Andrew
October 2 - QUEST was really fun. Eli W. was the book consultant today and presented the book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End." The word of the week was profound. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Striving For Accuracy. We learned about Lonnie Johnson and we read "WHOOSH!" by Chris Barton. We also started reading for the Socratic Seminar. Eli SL and Yohan
September 18 , todays morning work was guess the substitute teacher (deductive reasoning), for that project we had to guess the substitute teacher based off some clues. Today's book consultant was Mrs.McElhinney, she showed us a book called "The Door of No Return." The word of the week was Melancholy which means sadness. The Habit of Mind we learn was Managing Impulsivity. We learned what engineer is and what they do. We listened to a book, "What Do You Do With an Idea" and them studied the Strandbeest and checked the website to learn about the person that made them.

September 11, 2023 We learned about our jobs. Gong ringer looks like a cool job. We did our first group project with a tarp. We tried flipping the tarp over while standing on it. We couldn't move off the tarp. It was tricky, but we persisted and got it. We learned about deductive reasoing with Who Escaped from the Zoo! We read the book Ten Bird and learned about dignity. The word of the week is exquisite. QUEST looks promising.
