April 18th - Today we continued planning out our PSA. Book consultant today was Isaac with "I survived: The Attack Of The Grizzly Bears" by Lauren Tarshis. The word of the day is "Incredulous" which means skeptical. Two of the kids had to get loaner Chromebook from the Tesago computer lab. it was a good day at QUEST.

March 21,2024. Today Andrew showed us the book "The Green Ember" by S.D Smith. The word of the day was tremulous, which means quivering. We researched three questions for our world issues project. We used many sources and made sure to cite them correctly. In the middle, for a brain break, we played floor is lava. That was our amazingly, extraordinary day at QUEST. :)

March 14, 2024. Today Norah showed us the book "The Unteachables" by Gordon Korman. We also learned about the word Serene, and that it means calm. Next, we did a scavenger hunt to figure out how to properly cite a text, specifically the ones were using for our projects. Speaking of projects, today we started the process of finding our question's answers using the sites we learned how to cite. That's how our amazing day at QUEST went today!

March 7- Today Maddy was book consultant, and presented The Ersatz Elevator. At the beginning of the day many of us had words to put up on the word wall. The word of the week was "singular" meaning one of a kind or unique. This week was day 2 of our world issue project where we created questions for our presentation and reviewed them with other groups. We all had a great day with our amazing teacher Mrs. McElhinney!

February 29 - Today, we started a new project about world issues. We have to create a public service announcement about a world issue. We were searching up topics for our project and decided our specific topics. Today, Natalie presented the book Ghost Cloud for book consultant. The word of the week was acute, it means "sharp".

February 24 - We have finished our imagery poems! They turned out great. We have finished learning about all 16 Habits of Mind. We had our Socratic Seminar and we are definitely getting better at intellectual discussions. Norah, Addison, and Sophia have been book consultant.
January 18th - Annie was our Book Consultant. She presented Trumpet of the Swan. Last week, Daniel was book consultant and he presented Hatchet. The week before that, Senu presented The Bellwoods Game. The word of the day was tangible meaning to touch. The Habit of Mind was Finding Humor. Today we worked on our poems. It was so much fun! December 21 - Today we built our Ferris Wheels! They turned out great! We had kindergarten friends come and visit while we demonstrated how our Ferris Wheels worked.

December 14 - Today we spent the day planning for the Ferris Wheel build next week. Sam was the book consultant. He presented the Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien. Our word of the day was din. The habit of mind was Creating, Innovating, and Imagining. We can't wait for the Ferris Wheel Challenge next week!
November 30 - The word of the day was allude. Andrew was our book consultant. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Gathering Information Through our Senses. Our next STEM challenge will be mechanical engineering. We are going to build a functioning Ferris Wheel. We listened to a picture book about the first Ferris Wheel, Mr. Ferris and his Wheel.
Thursday, November 16 - Today Addy was our book consultant. She introduced the book, Out of My Mind. Our word of the day is amiable which means friendly. The Habit of Mind was Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision. Today we built our electrical circuits within our towers. It was super fun for most groups. We spent a ton of time problem solving and figuring out the best way to wire our structures. Everyone was successful. Next up, Ferris Wheels!?!
Thursday, November 2 - Today we planned our electrical circuits for our towers. The word of the week was wistful. The habit of mind was using past information to help with new situations. We read the poem, I am the Moon.
10/26/23 Today we had a fun STEM challenge. We built a tall tower that could withstand wind. The materials we had to use were toothpicks and packing peanuts. Everyone did a great job and tried their best! The word for the day was 'countenance', meaning a facial expression. Today's book consultant was Eleanor, who told us about the book The Babysitter's Club: Jessi's Secret Language, the graphic novel, which she rated 4/5 stars. Today was a great day. Daniel and Lennon

Today's date is Thursday, October 19th, and we have had an AMAAAAZING day! We started off the day with a puzzle about making a row have added up numbers equal to the other rows, shaped like a diamond. We then had Ethan tell us about his book as the book counselor. Next, we started our first lesson with STEM by experimenting with craft sticks (we didn't have toothpicks) and packing peanuts (don't worry, they're biodegradable!), and planned ideas for building a tower of toothpicks and packing peanuts next QUEST! Today is Thursday, October 5th
First, we started with reading a passage about animals and how they worked together. After we came up with skinny and deep questions for a Socratic seminar on the text The Sense of a Goose. We did this for next week seminar. After that, we read a book and looked at pictures about a Christo an environmental artist. We had to make questions because our Habit of Mind is Questioning and Posing Problems. Then we had the STEM challenge. We created towers out of index cards by just folding and stacking them, and they had to hold up about 3 pounds each. It was another fantastic day at QUEST- Ethan and Addy
September 28
First, we did a fun morning worksheet about the United States and then listened to Senu talk about the book she was reading. She said that it was a five out of five, so I might read it. Next, we read a book titled Whoosh and did a little thinking project to go with it. Finally, we read the first part of A Sense of a Goose and did the worksheet to go with it in small groups.We finished early so we got to play a fun name game with a ball outside. This was my amazing day at Quest. - Lennon
September 21st - Today at Quest we started off with a puzzle about a substitute teacher, after that we started working on our new habit of mind, Managing Impulsivity! We also worked on engineering projects by making a picture of engineers and showing it to our classmates to decide the features of an engineer. Lastly we inspected a website about a flying and moving mechanism called a Strandbeest. Quest is really off to a great start! Jeremiah and Keegan
September 14th - We started today with a deductive reasoning puzzle about Zoo Animals. Today we learned about persisting, a Habit of Mind. We read a book entitled The Ten Birds and learned about the word dignity. We played four corners to learn about Mrs. McElhinney and the QUEST kids. A fire drill interrupted our day. Lastly, we played a cooperative game where we stood on one side of a tarp and without moving off the tarp, flip the tarp over. It was funny. The first day of QUEST was great.
