October 16 - The word of the week was din, meaning strident, continual noise. The habit of mind was flexible thinking. QUEST is all about flexible thinking. Today we created our deep questions for the seminar next week. We learned how to sort questions that are great for seminar. The book consultant was Harrison. He presented the book The Giver by Lois Lowery.
October 9 - The word of the week was allude. The habit of mind was Listening with Empathy and Understanding. This week was our first STEM build. The battle of strength versus height. It was an epic build of index cards. Mina, Emmett, and Harrison's build made the 24 inch Index Card Hall of Fame. Jacob, Emily, and Eve are in the 21 inch Index Card Hall of Fame. Amelia C. was our book consultant. She presented Gordon Korman's Restart.
October 2 - No School
Today is 9/25/25. The book consultant of the day was Sarah. She presented The Eyes and the Impossible. Today's word of the day was wistful. We read Whoosh a book about Lonnie Johnson the inventor of the Super Soaker and a bunch of other things. We began reading A Sense Of A Goose. This short story we are using for our first seminar.
September 17 - Today's word of the day is melancholy, meaning sad. The habit of mind is managing impulsivity, thinking before you act. The book consultant is McKenna and she presented A Night Divided. We played a game using tarps. Six people were on each tarp and they had to flip it over while still standingn on the tarp. It was so much fun! We also talked about characteristics of engineers.
September 11 - Today is the first day of QUEST. The word of the week was exquisite meaning beautifully made, Anne was our presenter. The habit of mind was persisting. The book consultant was Mina who presented Uprising by Jennifer Nielson. Met the incredible puppet Bobby and was introduced to Jeffrey Bartholomew. We read Ten Bird and learned not to be a bird. We had a fire drill. Today was an exquisite day at QUEST.
