05/17/23 Today, our latin word was vac. It means empty. We did a riddle, and we also finished our cell's paper. AMy 5/17/23
5/10/23 Today our book consultant was Kelemen. He presented the Spirit Animals Series. We learned how to use Sphero Bolts. They were a lot of fun. We had to pass a drivers test and code the Bolts to move. We partnered up with a Kindergarten buddy to teach how to use the Bolts. The riddle of the day was about Sea Monsters. It was hard, but not.
5/3/2023 Today, our Latin roots word was san. It means healthy, and after that we started doing our organelle project again. And when we were done with that we did a riddle about fish. "The revenge of magic the last dragon" its about a kid who needs to learn magic to save his father". Good job Austin.

4/5/2023 Today, our Latin roots word was mal. It means bad, and after that we started using the microscopes again. ANd we looked at animal cells and plant cells. We found similarities and differences from them. When we were done, we started a Monkala tornament.
3/29/23 Today, while we were in quest we used onion, and cheek samples, and putting them on microscopes and looking at the cells. We somehow did a cheek sample by using a toothpick and rubbing it in our mouths, then putting it on slides. We did an onion sample by peeling a thin layer of the inside off, and sticking it on a slide. Also, in the afternoon Eddie presented a a book called "The Fantastic Tales Of Nothing". Good job Eddie! 3/8/23 Today we had our book consultant, Tristan, who talked about Spy School by Stuart Gibbs. Our word for latin roots was aqu which meant water. Then we started our second seminar of the year. We sounded like pros talking about change and then were doing an activity to tell what you learned in seminar. We could either do writing paragraphs or csi color symbol image. It was a great day! Today's Book Consultant was Kaine and he talked about Hunger Winter, a graphic novel. The Latin roots for today were "manu" and "lev". "Manu" means "hand", and "lev" means "to lift". Today we also read articles and answered questions based on the article. The articles will be used in next week's Socratic Seminar. Lastly, we gathered around a microscope and learned about its parts and what they do. It was a fun day in quest!
2/15/23 Today was a fun day in QUEST! After all the hard work that went into the Change Agent Project, we deserve it. First we made Jule Curve woven hearts. They were challenging to make and really tested our visual spatial abilities. We also worked on thinking games like Mancala and SOMA cubes. It was a great day.
02/01/23 The kids presented their scripts today. Ten weeks of dedication and hard work resulted in fabulous skits! You should be very proud of your perseverance and diligence! I apologize for the sound quality, many of the students are hard to hear.
01/18/23 Today we met with other groups to perfect our scripts. This weeks Latin root was "scrib/script". Vivian was book consultant and she talked about the book Max and the Midknights. We collected feedback and later revised them. By: Brooke and Karen.
01/04/23 Today we worked on our scripts and rubrics. This week's stem word is spec(t). And Leah was the book consultant. She talked about the book series Wings of fire. 12/21/22 today we worked mostly on our scripts for our biography's. The book was last kids on earth. We did our cards we made about our selves.

12/14 Today Brooke was the book consultant. She talked about the book the girl who stole an elephant. Then we did a plot mountain that focused on our biography.
12/7 After reading, we had our book consultant Tristan. He shared the book Big Nate. Next, we did our Latin stem witch was omni which means all. We were shown what a script actually looked like, it was about blind men trying to describe an elephant. After, we started making our scripts for most of the class. When there was 30 minutes left we watched a 13 minute video about how a war went through Mozambique in Africa and the animals and humans would need help. It was a awesome day. 11/30 After silent reading, Alex did a great job doing book consultant. He chose the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Out Latin stem was hydr meaning water. Then, we picked our partners for our biography project and started planned our characters with our partners. We ended the day by doing Habits of Mind part 2 and magic trash. It was a great day! 11/23/22 Today, Logan was our book consultant and he shared Skano's first NONFICTION BOOK!!! It was America's Revolution. Next, we researched our person for about two hours, well maybe not two hours, but it seemed that long. When we finished our notes, we played some brain games. The games were Mancala, Guess Who, marble runs, and SOMA cubes. It was a lot of fun! Evan D. and Caleb
11/16 We came in and read until the gong rang. Yennah did a great job being book consultant for the book "the Nightmare Thief" by: Nicole Lesperance. Our new Latin root was semi meaning half. We researched our biography subjects. We also took a brain break where we played a game which you throw and catch a ball when our class got the best score! Remember researching your person at home is optional. We did a couple more cards and listened to "Beyond the Bright Sea." Austin and Diya
11/9 What we did today: first was we read for 10 minutes. Next, we did book consultant. After that we wrote down our Latin and Greek stems, our stem today was Pre. Next, we did the standing up game where you stand up if you have that character trait and you sit down if you don't. After that we looked at sources for our project and had to type Jackie Robinson in 5 different sources. Lastly we explained what the paragraphs were in a article. 11/9/22. Charlotte and Logan
10/12 Today in QUEST Charlotte was our book consultant. We discussed the criteria for choosing a person for the upcoming biography project. We read about a change agent, William Kamkwamba, who created a windmill to generate electricity for his village in Malawi. Then we made our thinking visible using the strategy Peel the Fruit to understand William's story. We made three goals in Google Keep. Lastly, we finally read our read aloud, Beyond the Bright Sea.
9/21 Today we learned all about giving 100% in QUEST. 100% means to pay attention and give QUEST your all. We made meaning of what 100% means. To get into groups we used animals and their sounds to find our partners. It was an obnoxiously fun way to find partners. We read a folktale entitled The Old Woman and the Physician.
9/14 Wow, today flew by! We learned all about the ins and outs of our classroom jobs! Andrew was a fabulous gong ringer! We learned about our classmates by playing Four Tables. We started learning about Greek and Latin roots, which we will be studying all year. Beyond the Bright Sea, by Lauren Wolk was selected as the read aloud for the year. Everyone decided to come back next week (ha-ha)!
