March 3rd-This week we presented our science projects! Every0one did an amazing job ! Bobby even made a reappearance! The book consaultant was Layla, she shared the Phantom Tollbooth! We also played Last Man Standing! BTW, we did not get Jolly Ranchers. -Claire.V
February 24 - Today we our book consultant was Owen. He presented the book "Out of my mind" by Sharon M Draper. The word of the day today was concede which means to give up/surrender. Today we finished our projects. We were supposed to a TedEd but students wanted to finish their projects instead. We did not get jolly ranchers today D: Anyways, that's all! February 10th
Today we did not have a book consultant. We didn't have a habit of mind either because we finished them last week. The word of the week was maladroit, which means clumsy. We finished our poems and we tried to finish our research for our science projects. We got jolly ranchers today because of the awesome work we did. It was an awesome day at QUEST.

February 3rd
Todays book consultant was Senu. She reviewed the Keeper of the Lost Cities. The Habit of Mind for today was remaining open to continuous learning. the word of the day was antipathy. it means to have a deep dislike for something. Today we worked on our poems. We wrote detailed sentences for morning warm up. We did not get jolly ranchers today. :(

January 27th
Today, the book consultant was Claire. She talked about the book Wishtree. The words of the day were doleful and circumvent. The habit of mind was Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations. Today we worked on our project research. We also started our winter horses poems. Another great day at QUEST!

January 13th - Today the book consultant was Emily. She talked about the book Fighting Words. This book would be good for people who like The War That Saved My Life. The word of the day was furtive meaning stealthy; slyly. Today we thought about the project we are starting next week, about parts of the cell and how they work. Today the habit of mind was: thinking and communicating with clarity and precision. We ended the day with vaguely going over our Winter Horses project, it's where we write a season and an animal that goes with it. January 6 - The habit of mind of the day was metacognition, thinking about your thinking. The word of the day was palpable meaning touchable. Today the book consultant was Keegan. She told us about the book The Secret of Lillian Velvet. It seems like a really cool book! After that we read a poem called Winter Horses, and we answered questions about it. Then we read an awesome book called The Universe In You. It was an awesome day! -Eleanor and Annie
Dec. 16 Today the book consultant was Azaiah and he talked about the book, Spy School. Then we did a lesson on animal and plant cells. After we had enough information, we chose one of the parts of a cell to do a headline on. We then filled out a rubric about how well we thought we did one to four. After that we read. December 9 - We welcomed Azaiah to QUEST. The work of the week was stolid, meaning unemotional. The "Habit of Mind" today was working interpedently. Today, we looked at cheek cells both unstained and stained! We could see the nucleus of our cheek cells! People in our group went to the back to stain or unstained the slide, The book consultant was Natalie and she did the book "The Girl Who Drank the Moon," by Kelly Barnhill. She did a amazing job! As always, thanks to Mrs. McElhinney, another AMAZINGGG day of QUEST!! - Senu
December 2 - The word of the week was genial meaning kind and jovial. The Habit of Mind was finding humor. The book consultant was Skyler and she talked about The Ghost of Fossil Glen by Cynthia DeFelice. Today we looked at onion cells under a microscope, with and without stain. We learned about why an onion cell is shaped like a polygon. We even were able to see the nucleus in the cell.
November 25 - Today we had our Socratic Seminar on Susan B. Anthony's Speech. The word of the day was pervade and the Habit of Mind was taking responsible risks. The moderators were Eleanor and Senu. They both did a great job! The word of the week was pervade meaning to spread through out. The Habit of Mind was taking responsible risks.
November 18 - The word of the week was lurid meaning horrible and gruesome. The Habit of Mind was responding with wonderment and awe. Anne was the book consultant, she presented one of her favorite books that I can't remember the title. Today we worked on Compass Points, a Making Thinking Visible strategy that helped us understand Susan B. Anthony's persuasive speech on why women should be able to vote.
November 11 - No QUEST Veteran's Day
November 4 - Today was the first day of the Mascot Mystery. We had to make slides of six different substances to find out who stole the mascot costume. Salt and sugar were the coolest looking substance under the microscope. The word of the day was martyr meaning one who suffers. The Habit of Mind of the day was creating, imaging, and innovating. Nicole and Margot were our book consultants. Nicole presented the book The Tail of Emily Windsnap. She gave it five stars. Margot presented Misty Copeland, five stars.
October 28 - yay! We finally got to use the microscopes! We looked at some pretty cool things that were in small slices like stems, different organ tissue, and bug wings. The word of the week was abyss. The habit of mind was gathering data through all senses. Andrew and Thomas were both book consultants! We also finished our Weslandia seminar.
October 21 - Seminar Day! Today we participated in our seminar based on the books Weslandia, Du Iz Tak?, and The Numberlys.
October 14 - Indigenous Peoples Day - no QUEST
Monday, October 7, 2024. QUEST was super exciting today! The word of the week was sagacity which means wisdom. The habit of mind we learned about was striving for accuracy . We read the book Weslandia about a boy that makes a civilization for his summer project. Lastly, we drew a picture of slides from a microscope. Thomas introduced Bobby the sock puppet. He even sang a song about him.
September 30 - The word of the week was traverse, meaning to cross. The Habit of Mind was questioning and posing problems. We watched a book, Tuesday, that made us think of a ton of questions to ask! We read the book Du Iz Tak? It was a book (in bug language, it was cool!) that had great illustrations about a community of bugs working together to build a plant fort. They run into a few plot twists. It was a good day at QUEST.
September 23 - Vivienne was the book consultant and she presented The Bellwood Game. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Managing Impulsivity. The words of the week were pallor, meaning pale, and subtle meaning slight. We read the book the Numberlys. We worked in groups to find the theme of the Numberlys. It was a good day.
September 9 - Today we played four corners to learn about our teacher and classmates more. We had a fabulous fire drill, that took what seemed like nine hours. We talked about the jobs and how QUEST works. Layla was the book consultant, she presented Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the Getaway. The word of the week was vulgar. We are super excited to come back.
