April - 17 Today the 4th graders went on a field trip and only the 5th graders went to QUEST. This week we finished our plans and started working on our rough drafts for our scripts. Kevin was our book consultant and Presented PIE by Sarah Weeks. We played a memory activity for a brain break. We accomplished a lot and will catch up the 4th graders next week. Scarlett and Rose :) :)
April 10th- Today we did our plans for our World Issue Projects. We have been working on them for 7 weeks! Today's book consultant was Anna. She presented The Ogress and the Orphans by Kelly Barnhill.

March 20 - Today we did research research and more research for our world problem projects. We learned to find .edu and .gov sites. Our book consultant today was Oliva and she presented George's Marvelous Medicine by Roald Dahl.   Mina and Kevin
March 13 - Today we started part of our research and learned how to cite sources. In our morning warmup, we had to use 4 sticks and separate all of the squared into one section. It was challenging, but fun. The word of the week was serene, meaning calm and placid. The book consultants were Rose and Ryan. Rose presented The Missing(a book series) and Ryan presented It's The End of The World And I'm In My Bathing Suit! -Elise and Ben
March 6 - We learned all about how to make a great research question. Today we created three questions regarding the topic we chose for our research project. Our word of the week was singular meaning unique, We made new last man standing cards. (last man standing is a game we play in quest) We didn't have a book consultant because Rose was not ready due to a sore throat.   Violet and Olivia Â
February 28 -Â Today we are working on chosing our topic for our world issue PSA research project. Peter was the book consultant and he shared a book called Rosey's Story. We got to see examples of other people's PSA's about ideas for helping the world. We used those examples to help fuel our projects. Â Â Ryan C. and Jane
February 24 - We have finished our imagery poems! Check them out! Ryan and Addison were book consultants. We've missed Maeve and have a video for her below. Have have finished all 16 Habits of Mind. We had our Socratic Seminar before break. The class amaryllis bloomed! It was so pretty!
January 17-Jane was book consultant. She shared the book Spy School. The word of the day was tangible meaning to touch. The habit of mind we learned about was Finding Humor. Today we worked on our poems and peer edited them. At the end of QUEST we played the Lava on the Floor game.

January 3, 2024. The word of the day was abate, meaning to lessen. The habit of mind was responding with wonderment and awe. Today we planed for our poems using other poems for examples. We talked about symbolism and imagery. We read the story the Water Princess and talked about it afterword. We talked about how some people live very differently from us. The book consultant was Elise. She presented the 15th Dork Diary Book. Â
December 20 Today was a short quest day because of a chorus concert. Today we did are rubric for the Ferris wheel we built last week. We also did our first TedEd. We ended the day with last man standing.
December 13 - Today we built our final Ferris Wheel, and there were many new ideas. We also had two book consultants because we forgot to have one last year. They were Rose and Ryan. Rose told us about the book Allergic, while Ryan told us about the book Investigators. To sum it up, today was a great day for all of us and we learned many new things.
December 6 - Today we planned for the Ferris Wheel Challenge. The word of the week was din. The habit of mind was creating, imagining, and innovating. We can't wait to build the Ferris Wheels!
November 29 - The word of the day was allude. Ben was our book consultant. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Gathering Information Through our Senses. Our next STEM challenge will be mechanical engineering. We are going to build a functioning Ferris Wheel. We listened to a picture book about the first Ferris Wheel, Mr. Ferris and his Wheel.
Wednesday, November 15th! Today we lit up our towers! It was so much fun, but really hard! The wires would not stay in the clips. A few of us forgot the batteries must flow from negative to positive. We won't forget now! The word of the week was amiable meaning friendly and Scarlett presented the book Tuesdays at the Castle. Â
Today is Wednesday November 8th 2023. Today we read a poem called I am the Moon,. We did a project on it to help us understand the poem better. The poem was made by a girl in 4-5 grade for a competition. Her name is Laura P. Fletcher. Our book consultant was Amelia, the book was called Cake Pop Crush. Today we came up with ideas for our tower lights project. Next week we will start working on the tower itself.Â
Today is Wednesday November 1st 2023. Today we learned about electrical engineering and circuits. We also learned the definition of the word of the day, Prodigious. Our wonderful Book Consultant was Addy and the book was Charlotte's Web. We got to test the materials for next weeks build. Oliva and Scarlett.
Today is Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Today we built our final structures with packing peanuts and toothpicks. Then, we tested to see if they would withstand the fan at 1.5 meters, 1 meter, and 0.5 meters. We also put the fan at level 1, 2, and 3. Our tallest structure was 49 centimeters. Our book consultant was Maeve and the book was A Boy Called Bat. Our word today was countenance. It means Facial or expression. Written by Elise and Amelia.

Today is Wednesday October 18, 2023. The word of the week was clamor meaning an outcry. The book consultant was Aaron Striker and he presented the book Bomb the graphic novel version by Nick Bertozzi. The habit of mind we learned today was thinking flexibly. Today we did a civil engineering challenge and we used packing peanuts and toothpicks to make a plan on how to build the final building. By Anna Fang and Mina Galiard.
Today is Wednesday October 11, 2023. Our book consultant this week was Kevin and the book was Titanic young survivors. The word of the week is eccentric which means strange, unusual, or quirky. Today is Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Quest was super exciting today! The book consultant this week was Anna and she presented to second book in the series Percy Jackson. The word of the week was livid which means really angry. We built a tower out of index cards and it had to hold a four pound weight for ten seconds. We also had a lockdown drill. Today is 9/27/23. The book presented was Matilda by Oliva. She rated it five stars. The word of the week is profound meaning deep. We learned about Striving for Accuracy the newest Habit of Mind. Today in QUEST we had a deeper under standing of the book Whoosh by Chris Barton. We peeled the fruit, a thinking strategy for the book Whoosh. Whoosh is about Lonnie Johnson, a creative engineer. We started reading the text for our first Socratic Seminar, The Sense of a Goose. We also had a fire drill! Kevin and Amelia
Today is Wednesday, September 20, 2023. QUEST was a very nice experience today. Today our book consultant was Elise and she presented a book called PIE. In addition, today we learned about managing your impulsivity and our word of the week was, "Melancholy" We looked on a website about different things called Strandbeest made by Theo Jensen from the Netherlands. We listened to a book called, "What Do You With An Idea?" By Kobi Yamada. We all will be coming back to QUEST next week! - Peter and Anna
September 13 - Today in QUEST we did a tarp challenge. We were on a tarp and had to flip the tarp over without our classmates getting off the tarp. We spent some time going over QUEST expectations. We also talked about what the year would be like in QUEST. We played a question game named four corners. We worked on a problem solving using deductive reasoning. We learned about dignity and respect. We read a book, Ten Birds that is all about dignity. We all will be returning to QUEST next week. Â
