October 16 - Today we worked on writing questions for our Seminar next week. The questions have to be good for discussion and deep. Then we sorted the questions by whether they would be a question we would want to discuss and questions that would generate discussion. The habit of mind was thinking flexibly. The word of the day was din, constant noise. The book consultant was David. He presented No. 9, a soccer book.
October 9 - Today we had our first STEM build! We built towers out of index cards. We were allowed to build however we wanted, we could cut or fold the card. It was harder than we thought it was going to be. Even though it was hard, it was a lot of fun. The word of the day was allude, meaning to hint. The book consultant was Brayden and he presented the Amulet series.
October 2 - No School
September 25 - The habit of mind for the day is Questioning and Posing Problems. The word of the day is wistful, meaning having sadness or a pensive mood centered on something good in the past. The book consultant was Grace and she presented Forgotten. We read a book about Lonnie Johnson and his Super Soaker, another engineer. We read a essay about geese after reading it we chose a word, phrase, and sentence that we felt was most important and then explained why we chose it. We had a really good day at Quest!
September 18 - Today's word of the day is melancholy, meaning sad. The habit of mind is managing impulsivity, thinking before you act. The book consultant is Omar he presented Wings Of Fire #8. We learned about Strandbeesten. They are super innovated engineered beach beests that move by wind. We studied Engineering and what it was.
September 11 - Today was the first day of QUEST. James was the book consultant he presented the book Once There Was. The word exquisite was the word of the day, meaning beautifully unique. The habit of mind was persist. We had our first challenge with a teamwork tarp challenge. We had to stand on a tarp and flip it over without getting off of the tarp. We also played four corners and learned about ourselves. We did our first morning work, a deductive reasoning puzzle. We read Ten Birds. Today QUEST was exquisite.
