April 30- today's word was vex, meaning brings trouble or difficult. Today Annie was the book consultant and she told us about the book Warriors. then we worked on our psa project until the end of the day. - Wyatt and Jalen
April 23- Today's word was incredulous which means skeptical. The book consultant was Nora and presented on the book Hooky. We worked on the scripts and did our best to finish them up. That was pretty much the day and wrapped it up with the reflections. -Xuanan and Raina
4/16/24- Today Steven was consultant. He did a series called Everest. Then we worked on our PSA. We started to write a script to remember what to say. Lastly, we went outside to play catch and we beat our record every time. Today was a great day!

3/19/2024- Today Ben was the book consultant and he presented the book Outliers. Today we worked on the planers for the PSA. We also decided what format we are going to use in The PSA. lastly we played last man siting! Today was a super fun day!

3/19/2024- Today Wyatt was the Book Consultant and he presented the book Fort. Today we mostly did research on our World Issues and did one brain break!! We learned how to search for just .edu and .gov sites. We watched Bear Hunt on YouTube. Today was fun!

March 12 - Today Xuanan was book consultant and presented the book Wishtree. The word of the day was serene and we continued working on our PSA. We practiced citing articles and books and then looked for resources to answer questions we had about our topic.

March 4 - The word for today was singular, and the book consultant was Alyssa Gu. Today we worked on writing the questions for our research and worked with other groups on feedback for our questions. Today was very fun. -Bella and Xuanan
February 27 - The word of the week is acute-which means sharp. We learned about PSA's and started our research project. We chose topics and group partners. Ryan was Book Consultant. He told us about the book "The House of Secrets". It is a fantasy book. Jalen
Febraury 24 - We have finished our imagery poems! We completed our second Socratic Seminar. Amy, Brian, and Xuanan have been book consultant. We have finished learning about all 16 Habits of Mind. There are photos of us working on "Peeling the Fruit" to help us understand the article we discussed of our seminar.
January 23, 2024. The word for today is placid which means calm. Today's book consultant was Xuanan and he talked about the book Percy Jackson, the newest one. Today we also finished up our "I am the Moon" poems. Then, we played "Make a Cube" and "Mancala." Today was really fun!! -Bella and Lucas

Today half the class read an article about bees and the other half read about water. Them we answered questions about the article that we read. Ella And Jessie
January 9, 2024. The word for today is Manifest, which means obvious. The book consultant was wyatt, who talked about most dangerous. The habit of mind for today was taking responsible risks. Today we read the article that contained the top UN world issues. We then later started our poems. Alyssa and Xuanan

January 2, 2024. The word of the day was abate, meaning to lessen. The habit of mind was responding with wonderment and awe. Today we planed for our poems using other poems for examples. We talked about symbolism and imagery. We read the story the Water Princess and talked about it afterword. We talked about how some people live very differently from us. The book consultant was Saisha.
December 19- Today, we did a Sudoku puzzle to warmup and then we had three book consultants, Jessie, Brian, and Xuanan. Then, we played The Ring Game where we tried to get a ring across a spiderweb of string. Then, we did a Ted-Ed riddle which was really hard. Finally, we did Last Man standing.- Ella and Wyatt and Anonymous
Today is December 12, 2023 and we had a fun day in Quest! We finished building our ferris wheels and tested them using hair dryers. We watched them spin on low and high settings with a lego person riding on them. Then, we drew and labeled our completed ferris wheel in our Thinking Like An Engineer booklet. When it was time to go, each of us got a Lifesaver! Today was a very exciting and busy day in Quest.

December 5 - Today was a great day. We did a sudoku for our warm up. Jalen was our book consultant and talked about the book The Great Wave of Tamarind. The Habit of Mind was Creating, Imagining, and Innovating. We continued to brainstorm our ideas for the Ferris wheel. We also did some index cards for Last Person Standing. Finally we read a book about the alphabet.
November 28 - The word of the day was allude. Andrew was our book consultant. The book is a science fiction/fantasy book about a boy who can make maps of new worlds. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Gathering Information Through our Senses. Our next STEM challenge will be mechanical engineering. We are going to build a functioning Ferris Wheel. We listened to a picture book about the first Ferris Wheel, Mr. Ferris and his Wheel.
Today 11/21/23 we made lights for our towers. We worked in groups and built circuits to put on our builds. We made parallel circuits instead of series circuits . We had a very good day.
Today is November 14th, 2023. Quest was awesome today! Joanna was book consultant today and told us about the book Eva Evergreen. Also the word of the week was Amiable meaning friendly. We then read the poem I am the Moon. It was awesome! Then we did a chart/making thinking visible about it. Finally, we did planning for our electrical tower we will build next week.

10/17/23 - Today we had a very hard number puzzle then after that we learned our new classic word which was clamor which means a very loud and long wail. We also planned for our first big project this year. Which is building a the largest tower without it falling over from wind. -Luca and Raina

10/10/23 - The word of the week is eccentric and the Habit of Mind is Listening with Understanding and Empathy. Our book consultant was Justin and he talked about the book "What Happened at Midnight". It was a mystery book about two boys and their dad who had to solve a crime about this gang who was stealing jewels and electronic devices. We also did our first Socratic Seminar of the year. It was about an article we read called "A Sense of a Goose". Today was a great day! -Ben and Steven
Today is Tuesday October 3rd, 2023. Quest was really fun today! The word of the week is livid (angry beyond belief). First, we listened to our book consultant Katie. She showed us the book The One and Only Ivan. Second, we came up with questions about passages that taught us how animals can work together; we humans should too. Finally, we had a STEM challenge. Our challenge was to try to make a sculpture out of index cards that would hold up a one pound box. It was Nora's birthday and she had ice-creams delivered to the class. Thank you! Today is Tuesday September 26, 2023. Quest was super exciting today! The word of the week was profound. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Striving for Accuracy. We learned how Lonnie Johnson invented the super soaker and how he never gave up on his dreams. We also read Sense of a Goose. We did a thinking sheet called sentence phrase word. Then we read trust from meerkats, communication from wolves, and coordination from killer whales. Then we did free read. -Justin and Vinny
Today is Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Today we read the book : What Do You Do With An Idea? Xuanan was the book consultant and told us about the book : Zero Gravity. Next, we discussed what an engineer was and went online and learned about Strandbeest. I was so interesting! We also learning a breathing routine to make us less stressed. Finally, we went outside and played a very fun game to learn each others names. The second day of Quest was awesome! - Katie
September 12th - We started today with a deductive reasoning puzzle about Zoo Animals. Today we learned about persisting, a Habit of Mind. We read a book entitled The Ten Birds and learned about the word dignity. We played four corners to learn about Mrs. McElhinney and the QUEST kids. A fire drill interrupted our day. Lastly, we played a cooperative game where we stood on one side of a tarp and without moving off the tarp, flip the tarp over. It was funny. The first day of QUEST was great.
