December 3-- Grant was book consultant. He presented Outside by Jennifer Holm. Jack was the word presenter today and the word was sublime. It means inspiring, grand, or supreme. The habit of mind was gathering data through all senses. We planned out some ideas on how to design our circuits and place the circuits down on our infrastructures. Q.U.E.S.T was exhilarating today. - Sujay
November 19- Maeve was book consultant. She presented The Miraculous Adventures of Edward Tulane. The word of the day was livid. We experimented with circuits. Ellarie and Grant built a 10 battery circuit going into 1 lightbulb! The habit of mind was thinking and communicating with clarity and precision. Q.U.E.S.T was awesome today.
November 12- Everett was book consultant. He presented big Nate and wish I was a baller. Sujay was word presenter. We watched a video about a small island in Denmark that is powered by all electricity with wind mills and solar panels. Then, we read a book about electricity. We were thinking about innovating ideas with electricity. Then we read about our sustainable goals Socratic Seminar articles.
November 5- Ezra and Sujay were book consultants. Ezra presented Red Wall. Sujay presented The Famous Five. We are two lessons ahead so we did a fun STEM challenge. The challenge was to build the longest chain out of one sheet of paper, the things that we used were scissors and a glue stick. You were allowed to have a partner or work by yourself. Samuel and Ellarie were able to build the longest chain with paper left over, Norah and Grant were second, and Sujay and Everett were third. We also learned how to play Mancala! October 29 - We did not do word of the day, habits of mind, or book consultant because it is big build day! We didn't start building right away though! We learned sustainable goals today, really quickly so we can choose our topic for Socratic Seminar. Most of the day was spent on building our biodegradable foam packing peanuts and toothpick structures so they could survive the fan of doom. Below are the groups and videos of the fan testing. October 22 - The word of the day is visage, it means the look on a face. The habit of mind was thinking about your thinking. Ellarie was book consultant she presented Dragon Masters and The Baby Siters Club. Today we did a lot of planning for are civil engineer project. The end of quest everybody had a happy visage. Jack
October 15 - The word of the week was Din meaning loud, harsh, or strident noise. The habit of mind was Thinking Flexibly. The book consultant was Samuel. He presented an Alan Gratz book Refugee. We had our very first Socratic Seminar about the Sense of a Goose. and How Different Animals Use Teamwork. Norah and Jack the two moderators, which are question readers. October 8 - The word of the week was allude, meaning indirectly referring to. The habit of mind was listening with understanding and empathy. The book consultant for today was Norah, she presented two book series: Harry Potter and Spy School. Today we wrote a lot! We finished our Sentence, Phrase, Word assignment about the Sense of a Goose. We read another article about animals and teamwork for our seminar next week. We also got to play with the materials we are using for our next STEM challenge.
October 1 - The word for today was magnanimous and Jack was book consultant. He had two books, the book were Farmer Boy and Double Play at Short. We had a big project that we had to work on. It was we an Index Tower, it was hard but we did not give up. At the end of the day we had a challenge were we had to put SOMA blocks together in a 3 x 3 cube. The people to make the 3 x 3 cube were Norah, Samuel, Ezra, Sujay, Timmy and Dylan

September 24 - Welcome Natalie! The habit of mind for the day is Questioning and Posing Problems. The word of the day is wistful, meaning having sadness or a pensive mood centered on something good in the past. The book consultant was Timmy and he presented the Dogman Series. We read a essay about geese after reading it we chose a word, phrase, and sentence that we felt was most important and then explained why we chose it. It was great at QUEST today.
September 17 - Today's word of the day is melancholy, meaning sad. The habit of mind is managing impulsivity, thinking before you act. The book consultant is Dylan, he presented the Wings of Fire series. We learned about Strandbeest. It used wind power to power it along the beach. The engineer had to do a tons of thinking. We learned about what engineers do and some examples of engineers. We played a game named last person standing. We wrote about ourselves and if other people didn't share that characters they sat down. The last person standing was the person who wrote the card. QUEST was exhilarating.
September 10 - Today was the first day of QUEST. The word of the day was exquisite meaning exceptionally beautiful and delicate. The habit of mind was persisting. Mrs. McElhinney was book consultant and she presented Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins. We read a book, Ten Birds by Cybele Young. All ten bird found dangerous ways to cross a river, the last one just walked over the bridge. We had a tarp challenge. We had to flip the blue side over to the grey side, the hard part was we couldn't get off the tarp but had to flip over with us standing on it. We started with groups of four, then six, then all 11 of us on one tarp. We took the photo above. QUEST was innovative. - Sujay and Ezra
