9/17 - We learned all about persisting with Habits of Mind. Then we found out a partner and introduced them to the class. Then we began read aloud.
9/24/21 Today we read our own books in the morning. Next, we talked about the habits of mind for today-managing impulsivity. After that, we watched a video that showed us the book Zoom! and it has no words, the illustrations kept on zooming out form a rooster head to outer space. We watched the book so we could learn about Systems. The system we learned about was tiny things make larger things.
10/01/21 First, we wrote out ten or more systems that we could think of. Next, we had a fire drill and it was about 10 minutes long. Last, we read The Book of Three and did the weekly reflection. By Mason Lee
10/08/21 Today we did more of our mind map, also we read a little more of The Book of Three. After we read we also learned about the word magnanimous. We learned about the Industrial Revolution by observing pictures and writing what we saw. Jackson and Hanna
10/15/21 Today, Easton shared a nonfiction book for Book Consultant. We discussed the Habit of Mind, Listening with Understanding and Empathy. We talked about quantity of sharing and quality of sharing during discussions. We read the fourth chapter of the Book of Three. We met the gwythaints who are scary, flying monsters. We worked on our Book of Three Mindmaps. We finished our first assignment, Engage! We looked at photographs from the Industrial Revolution and what was happening in the photos. We also had to look at an add that wanted to hire 120 girls and boys! Written by Sebastian Raley and Jonah Goetz
10/19/21 Today our word of the week was the word clamor. We did habits of mind with skits which was really fun. We also free read for about 20 minutes in the start of class. We had two people share their book to the class, Hanna, and Charlotte. Then, we read The Book of Three and added to our mind maps. We made three categories and sorted our systems into each category. Last, we colored our letters inside our folders. By Mason and Maddox.
11/05/21 Today, Jonah shared a book: Klawde. We added more to our mind maps from The Book of Three. Also, our words of the week were visage and prodigious. We found two words in a poem and had to find the definitions of them. We also wrote down facts for the Industrial Revolution. We ended our day with a reflection, which habit of mind we see the most.

12/3/21 Today we talked about the poem, I Hear America Singing. We had our first seminar about the poem. A seminar is when we sit in a circle and have a discussion about the topic. We had partners watching us while we were having the seminar. The outside circle took notes on how often the inside/talking circle spoke, invited other to speak, and if we used scholarly language. We swapped spots so each person could talk and watch their partner. We really liked the seminar.
01/14/22. Today in Arongen Quest we finished reading chapter 10 and 11 of The Book of Three and we worked on a google doc about the Industrial Revolution and we had to use our IR website links and cite our sources, but not our pictures. Today at Arongen Quest, we also answered three questions of where we chose a topic of a article and wrote about our opinion about using the options given to us. These will be our opening statements for the Socratic Seminar next week. Jacob
1/21/22 - Today in QUEST we read a new chapter of the The Book of Three, and then we had a Socratic Seminar. First, the Afghanistan group went and they talked for about half an hour. The Animal group went second, and they talked the same amount of time, but a little less. We did not do anything related to the Industrial Revolution this week. Easton and Ratnottama
1/28/22 Today QUEST began at 8:30. We went over the Habits of Mind - Think Interdependently and the word of the week was din. We read the next chapter in The Book of Three - chapter eleven - and it looks like Gurgi might not make it. We spent most of our time researching our questions for the Industrial Revolution.
3/4/2022 Today in QUEST, we listened to the four final Industrial Revolution Projects. We started the Think Like an Engineer science. Today we drew what we thought an engineer looked like. We also listened to The Book of Three.
3/25/22 Today in Quest, we first looked at the poem "Grapefruit" and we searched for describing words and personification. Then, we spent 15 minutes building a structure that would hold a box of dice. Most of the teams were able to succeed in building it. After that, the structures were on exhibit for everyone to see and examine, and then we watched a video on the engineering process. Finally, we had to answer questions about the engineering process.
4/8/22 This morning Christian was book consultant and Jacob suggested Stuart Gibbs as a great author to read. We chose our inanimate objects for our "grapefruit" poems. We worked on our plan for the next STEM build. We are creating a structure out of toothpicks. It has to be really tall. Mrs. McElhinney read The Book of Three.
4/29/22 Today we spent most of the day building our plant-based packing peanut and toothpick structures. We needed our structures to withstand hurricane, tornado, and apocalyptic winds. All of our structures made it past hurricane level winds, Many structures came within a few inches of the fan. The day went by very fast!
5/6/22 Today what we did first was independent reading. Then, we did our prep for socratic seminar. After that, we listened to The Book Of Three. Then we listened to the book Mr. Ferris and his Wheel. To end the day, we started our planning for our Ferris Wheel project. What a great and busy Quest day!!
5/13/22 Today we explored Sphero BOLTs! It was so cool! We learned how to sync them with the IPad and use all of their functions. We had a course to maneuver our BOLTS through and we programmed our BOLTS to run a pattern. We also played bowling and chased 2nd graders down the hall. We created a tag game using the bolts. Today was awesome! The Bolts were so much fun!
6/9/22 We finally built the Ferris Wheels! Check out the videos below.
