6/3/223 Today in QUEST we built marble tracks and tested them. after we did a riddle that only 1 person solved. then we played 20 questions. ANDREW
5/22/23 Today in QUEST, we had our first riddle in the morning, where we had minimum sticks to separate dots in their own section. Then, we had Ben as Book Consultant, and presented a book called Artimis Fowl. Then, we worked on our cell organelle projects, but once we were done with it, we played series of games such as a paper clip game, 24, and Mancala. After that, we worked on our later riddle, and it was hard! Finally, we read Gregor the Overlander.

5/15/23 Today we worked on our organelle cell project. We also did logic riddles. Then we read Gregor The Overlander.
5/8/23 Today we learned and taught the kindergarteners to use the Sphero Bolts. It was alot of fun. We had races and drove the Bolts through an obstacle course. We did a riddle from ted ed that we had to figure out how many tanks to pick up. We had to keep trying different ways to solve it. Lastly, we read Gregor the Overlander.

05/01/23 Today Andrew was book consultant. He presented 39 Clues to us. After he finished, we worked on our mind map. Our words today were san, meaning healthy, and biblio, meaning book. Then we worked on our organelles project. After that we did a very challenging riddle, then we read Gregor for a little while.

04/03/23 Today in QUEST, Colin was Book Consultant with a book called "Save me a Seat." After that, we took toothpicks and scraped our mouth to look at cheek cells in the microscope. Then, Marcus's dad, who is a vet, gifted us cat or dog blood cells that we examined. Our Latin root word of the day was Mal, meaning bad. At the end of the day, we then played some Mancala.

03/20/2023 Today Caleb was Book Consultant and showed us a wonderful Book called Allergic. The book is about A Ten-year old who wants a dog then has an allergic reaction. The Latin stem of the day was super meaning over. After that we found out that Helen was the one who stole the costumes with our forensic Mistry. We looked at onion skin under the microscope. Then looked at it with iodine. Finally we had some read to self time.

02/27/23 Today Elena was book consultant and presented a really cool Harry Potter Guide Book. The book had lots of illustrations. We selected an article to read for Socratic Seminar, after we read the article we wrote about the general idea and specific details we might want to use from the article during the seminar. Then we learned all about microscopes, what the different parts are and how to take care of them. You don't play football with a microscope. The last part of the day Mrs. McElhinney read Gregor the Overlander. The bats were playing keep away with Boots, it was funny.
02/13/23 The kids presented their scripts today. Ten weeks of dedication and hard work resulted in fabulous skits! You should be very proud of your perseverance and diligence! I apologize for the sound quality, many of the students are hard to hear. I've been told that using earbuds/earphones help.

2/6/23 Today Mia was the book consultant and she introduced the book: Blended. We worked on our scripts and finished them. We started our presentations for who we researched. We also read Gregor The Overlander. By Elena and Reilly.
12/19 Today Elena was our book consultant. She chose the Sisters Grimm series to present. They sound like great books. Our stem was circ which means round, like circle. We finished our Story Arcs and review our story arcs with another group using the Give Three strategy. The last thing we did was listen to Gregor the Overlander! Today we finally learned about the prophecy.
12/5 Today Clara was our book consultant. She presented the series "The series of unfortunate tales" we had Omni as our Latin roots. We also worked on plot diagrams for our project on people who had changed the world. Mia & Reilly.
11/28 Today we came to quest having Sarah being the book consultant the book was Eragon. Then we did our Latin roots mind map. The stem was hydro . After we started planning our script for our world changers writing piece . We did our habits of mind map . We read Gregor the Overlander . Today we had a great day at quest . Happy Birthday to Nandu have a great ninth birthday and to Alexandre's little brother . Caleb and Reilly
11/21 Today Andrew was the book consultant. He reported on the book Cooper's Story. It is about a dog. The Latin Stem of the week is uni, that means one. We finished researching our biography person and found 25 ways to make the SOMA cubes. Mrs. McElhinney read from Gregor the Overlander. We have met the rats!
11/14/ This was week 10 of Quest, it was a very packed day. We researched the people we were doing for our biography project. In the middle we played a new game as a " brain break". In the game we though a ball to make a pattern and timed ourselves yo see how fast we could pass it around. We were able to get a low time of 38 seconds. Finally, at the end of the day we read Gregor the Overlander.
10/3 We came in and read independently for a couple of minutes. Then we listened to the picture book, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. After we read the book, we used Peel the Fruit to show our thinking. We read Gregor the Overlander and began to visualize what the new world looks like. Lastly, we learned how to use Google Keep. We wrote our first trimester goals in Keep.
9/19 Today we learned all about giving 100% in QUEST. 100% means to pay attention and give QUEST your all. We made meaning of what 100% means. To get into groups we used animals and their sounds to find our partners. See the photos below. It was an obnoxiously fun way to find partners. We read a folktale entitled The Old Woman and the Physician. We read from Gregor today.
9/12 Wow, today flew by! We learned all about the ins and outs of our classroom jobs! Andrew was a fabulous gong ringer! We learned about our classmates by playing Four Tables. We started learning about Greek and Latin roots, which we will be studying all year. Gregor the Overlander, by Suzanne Collins was selected as the read aloud for the year. Everyone decided to come back next week (ha-ha)!
