April 18 - Evan was book consultant today. He presented the book series Artemis Fowl. He rated it 4.999999. The word of the day is undulate meaning to move in a wave-like pattern. Today everyone finished their PSA project plan and we started writing our scripts for the PSA presentation.
March 21st - Today we started research on our "global issues" project. Our vocabulary word today is tremulous which means quivering. We learned how to cite sources properly and how to filter on google for .edu and .gov websites. -Evan

Cody was our book consultant today. He presented The Hunger Games - Catching Fire. The word of the day was singular meaning unique. We started a new project called "Global Issues" where we all pick a global issue to cover and make a PSA on it eventually. - Evan and Ruchir
February 29 - Happy Leap Day! Leo was our book consultant today. He presented The Ogress and the Orphans. The word of the day is acute, meaning sharp. Today we had our second Socratic Seminar. Both groups did a fabulous job and it felt like an incredible conversation.
February 24 - We have finished our imagery poems! Check them out below. It has been crazy with field trips and testing, finally after break we will be able to have our Socratic Seminar. We have learned about all 16 Habits of Mind. Hiran and Max have been our book consultants. The week Arongen was on a field trip, Shatekon had a very memorable seminar using the book The Giving Tree.
January 18 - This week, our word was Tangible meaning to touch. The habit of mind was taking reasonable risks. We forgot book consultant. We started our day with a brain puzzle. Then we did a "poll" if you will on world issues. We read an article by the UN - United Nations about current world issues. We also began on our poetry pieces! We were super busy, but had time for a few cards.
Today our word is abate meaning to lesson. Jason and Ruchir were our book consultants. We wrote topics and ideas for a poems we will write next week. We are starting our world problem project. Today we listened and reflected on the book The Water Princess.

December 14 - Today we spent the day planning for the Ferris Wheel build next week. Eloise was the book consultant. She presented the Who is... series. Our word of the day was din. The habit of mind was Creating, Innovating, and Imagining. We can't wait for the Ferris Wheel Challenge next week! there were lots of great ideas and examples for materials. we had groups of 3 but one had 2. we had a great day in class today. - Jason
November 30 - The word of the day was allude. Acacia was our book consultant. She presented one of our favorite mystery writers, Mary Downing Hahn's The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Gathering Information Through our Senses. Our next STEM challenge will be mechanical engineering. We are going to build a functioning Ferris Wheel. We listened to a picture book about the first Ferris Wheel, Mr. Ferris and his Wheel.
Today is Thursday, November 16th. For morning work, we had a logic puzzle about ducks. Today's book consultant was Emmaline and she shared a book called the Bellwood's Game. The word of the week was Amiable. It means friendly. The Habit of Mind we learned about was Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision. Today we built circuits for our structures and Angelina and Haitham were the first ones to get their lights to the top of their structure. - Iris and Charvi
Today is Thursday, November 9th 2023. Charvi was book consultant and presented the History Smashers series. The word of the week was wistful. After that, we read a poem called I am the Moon. Then we did a thing where we had to write in colorful circles after talking about specific question and our ideas to the poem. We started to plan our electric city for next week. Colin and Acacia
Today is Thursday, November 2 Today we started the day off with I Scream brain teaser. Our book consultant was Lila and she told us about the book Save Me a Seat. Max also presented a book about an ice cream shop in Schenectady. It was Rocky Road. We read the book Energy Island by Allan Drummond. We also started trying out circuits. The heater started making loud, crazy noises that everyone started talking about. ~ Emmaline and Adu.
Today is Thursday, October 26, 2023. Today was really fun! The book consultant today was Kaiden and he shared the book The Door by the Staircase. The word of the week was countenance which means your facial expression. The morning work today was the magic wheel. We had a big steam project about using packing peanuts and toothpicks to make a structure that can withstand a fan. We also tested our builds. Everyone did a great job! -Angelina and Sophie

Today is Thursday, October 19, 2023. Today was a really fun day! Anna-Sophie was our book consultant today and the book was The Hunger Games. The word of the week was Clamor, which means a loud outcry. We also learned about thinking flexibly. The morning work today was the Magic Diamond. We started an engineering challenge and started planning our ideas, and did small tests to see if our ideas would work. -Iris and Sahir.
Today is October 12 2023. Today we did our first Socratic Seminar. I think it went well. Our book consultant today was Charvi, she talked about the book Unplugged by Gordon Korman. The morning work today was this puzzle how each line ( diagonal, Horizantal, and vertical) had to add up to 15 only using the numbers 1 to 9. - Acacia and Leo
Today is October 5th, 2023. Colin was our book consultant and presented Endling: The First. He We started by reading about different animals and how they communicate and help each other. Then we talked about the Socratic Seminar and wrote down 3 questions about the We learned about Christo and Jean-Claude and their art work The Gates. We had to create questions, this was part of the habit of mind Questioning and Posing Problems. Last of all. we did a STEM activity to build a tall tower that can hold up some weights and then we packed up. - Emmaline and Anna Sophie
Thursday, September 28- Today we did a fun puzzle in the morning. We read the book "Whoosh" and did a fun little activity called Peel the Fruit on it. Our book consultant Adu showed us the book Elife Unperfect. We did a writing activity which was sentence phrase word. We had partners for it. The word of the week this week was profound. But, over all today was a fun day at QUEST. Charvi & Sophie
September 21st 2023 - We did a fun puzzle using deductive reasoning about substitute teachers. Book consultant, Angelina, came up and presented a book with lots of short folktales in it. We did the word of the week (melancholy) and learned about managing impulsivity. Then we learned about engineering. After that, we learned about these crazy things that someone created called Strandbeest. They can walk and even fly! We had a great Day!

September 14th - We started today with a deductive reasoning puzzle about Zoo Animals. Today we learned about persisting, a Habit of Mind. We read a book entitled The Ten Birds and learned about the word dignity. We played four corners to learn about Mrs. McElhinney and the QUEST kids. A fire drill interrupted our day. Lastly, we played a cooperative game where we stood on one side of a tarp and without moving off the tarp, flip the tarp over. It was funny. The first day of QUEST was great.
