Top 18 Halloween Costumes for 2023
Halloween is coming up, and so is costume planning. This list will give you individual, duo, trio, and group ideas for this upcoming spooky season.
Barbie vs. Oppenheimer:
Dress as the summer’s #1 movie debate. You either go as a duo, only dressed for Barbie, or only dressed for Oppenheimer. If you dress for Barbie, get a whole group of friends to dress along with you and say, “Hi Barbie!” to everyone you pass. If you dress for Oppenheimer, wear a suit and tie and bring out the ambiance from the movie.
You can’t go wrong with dressing up as a Taylor Swift Era with other Swifities. You could go as a debut cowgirl/cowboy, dress in a golden flapper dress, a purple jeweled outfit, an autumn plaid outfit, a light blue party outfit, a black sequin outfit with snakes, a cardigan or mirrored dress, a forest sundress, or a bejeweled party outfit.
If you are feeling lazy about your outfit, have people sign a “My name is…” sticker and place it on your white t-shirt. You can pretend to be everyone for the day, hence the Halloween outfit being “identity theft”.
Yes, this may be repeated a lot, but it is always a good one. If you have a group of five friends, dress up as the characters from Scooby-Doo. Get the mystery gang back together with Daphne, Velma, Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo.
Dress up as your favorite book character from your favorite book this year. Bonus points if someone recognizes your character without telling them.
Get a large group of people to wear hard hats and a reflective vest as a quick and easy costume plan. It is a very cheap outfit and can be solo or group!
Go solo for your costume, and be the statue of liberty. A very patriotic look that can be paired with an I heart NYC t-shirt. Most of the items can be made from home like the crown and torch. It is also a very unique outfit.
You can’t go wrong with a classic fairytale character. Buy a long wig for Rapunzel or a frog stuffed-animal for Tiana. Create a genie in a lamp for Aladdin or buy a stuffed horse for Flynn Rider.
The classic sheet for a costume is still a favorite of mine. Dress up with sunglasses, a hat, and other accessories to stand out as an individual ghost. Don’t forget to have a photoshoot after dressing up!
The phone, the phone is ringing… and waiting for you to dress up as the wonder pets. Ming-Ming (the chick), Tuck (the turtle), and Linny (the Guinea pig), are the best trio to dress up as. It brings back some past memories of our childhood.
Need a duo? Dress up as a magician and rabbit, and maybe even learn some magic tricks before going trick or treating or to a party.
Use makeup to create buttons for eyes and wear a bright yellow raincoat. Even better if you can find two other people to act as your button eyed parents to pull together one messed up family.
Another great duo costume is cheese and mouse. Look out for any rat traps on Halloween.
There are many different spider-mans to choose from for this costume. Don’t forget that you can add your friends to the mix with MJ, Ned, Harry, and the villains.
Grab your canes and create some mouse ears for this one. Try not to run into anything like this trio will, blindly in the night!
Throwback to this iconic movie from the 2000s. Dream, dream, dream, dream, dream, dream… about wearing this costume as a duo.
Have a short friend you want to duo with? Get them to be an oompa loompa and you’ll be Willy Wonka. Try to collect as many chocolate bars as you can and maybe even drop some golden tickets in candy buckets.
You can’t go wrong with a classic horror character. Put on a mask and scare your friends.
