Exeter High School Student-Run Newspaper!
AP (Advanced Placement) classes allow advanced students to earn college credit. These courses are rigorous and involve covering a lot of curriculum in less time than a typical high school class. EHS offers a total of 11 AP classes. Six students were interviewed about their experience with the AP Test.
What is one thing you are glad you did before the AP Test?
Megan Leigh (Micro & Macro Economics, Calculus BC, and Physics C: Mechanics): Getting Princeton Review Books for Calculus and Physics, getting “5 Steps to a 5” books for Economics, and completing the corresponding chapter after finishing the curriculum in class. Starting in April, Megan assigned one book per night to review to avoid getting overwhelmed.
Elly Federspiel (Language, Government, and Calculus AB): Actively participating in the in-class review.
Bobby Pace (US History): “Get a good night's sleep and don’t try to cram”
Aastha Patel (US History): “Watch Heimler’s History”
Amelia Chandler (US History): “Get a good night’s sleep”
What is one thing you wish you had done before the AP Test?
Megan Leigh (Micro & Macro Economics, Calculus BC, and Physics C: Mechanics): “I wish I had read Collegeboard’s exam policies.”
Elly Federspiel (Language, Government, and Calculus AB): “Started studying sooner outside of class.”
Bobby Pace (US History): “I wish I had read over the AP course guide”
Aastha Patel (US History): “Learning the key events and people sooner”
Amelia Chandler (US History): “Review the rubrics for each section”
Do you recommend the Class/classes to other students?
Megan Leigh (Micro & Macro Economics, Calculus BC, and Physics C: Mechanics): “It depends on the student” If you have a good work ethic and a strong background in what is required in the class, then yes.
Elly Federspiel (Language, Government, and Calculus AB): “Yes definitely! They were really difficult but worth it in the end!”
Bobby Pace (US History): “Yes, an AP test is a great way to see if you enjoy the subject”
Aastha Patel (US History): “It depends, If you don’t have any interest in the subject, then no”
Amelia Chandler (US History): “No”
Overall, the AP test is a great way to challenge yourself in different subjects and become more prepared for college-level education. AP is not made for everyone, but it is a great opportunity for people to want to take it!
