Giving Back to the Community
As the days get shorter, the weather gets colder, and the promise of snow is in the air, the holiday season is right around the corner! And during this time of gift giving there are many ways to donate your time and money to the people in your community. Giving something as simple as a Christmas card, or donating your time to help others is a great way to give back to your community, and share your gratitude.
One great charity to give to this time of year is the SPCA. This helps shelter dogs and other animals get access to medical care and other essential resources. Consider donating today!
The Alliance for Greater Good is asking members of the community to create holiday cards for elders in assisted living homes. This is a great way to spread holiday cheer and make someone’s holiday season that much brighter.
Local radio station, Z107 is hosting a winter coat drive! You can drop off your warm winter clothes at different locations including locations in Stratham and Portsmouth. This is a great way to get rid of clothes that don’t fit or that you don’t use anymore and give it to people who need them!
After the holidays, there are many ways to dispose of your Christmas tree for a good cause! In Georgetown MA, there is a little goat farm, Great Rock Farm, where you can donate your old Christmas tree to the goats. Along with giving your tree to these adorable animals, a further monetary donation is requested that will be given to a charity that will be voted upon! Sign-up for this event is required.
You can also donate your tree to the Stratham Bonfire. This helps benefit the 5th-grade class at SMS. For a donation fee, the fifth-grade class will come to collect your tree, although this is only open to residents of Stratham it is still a great option!
These are just a few ways to give back this holiday season. There are many other ways such as shoveling your neighbor's driveway, donating some canned food, or even just sending a text to someone letting them know you’re thinking of them. How will you spread holiday cheer and kindness this season?
