Exeter High School Student-Run Newspaper!
Exeter High School has acquired many clubs over the years, from Key Club, to Math Team, Youth and Government, to FBLA. The possibilities are endless, and this October all these clubs will be on full display during the schools club fair taking place October 15th and 16th during advisory in the gym. The 15th will be for freshmen, and the 16th will be for sophomores. Joining clubs is the best way to get involved and put yourself out there. If you are interested in joining a club, how do you know which to join if there are so many options? Here is a brief overview of each club so you can be aware of which tables to look out for at the club fair this year.
American Sign Language Club- American Sign Language Club, also known as ASL is a newer club offered here at Exeter. Every Friday morning before school at 7:05, the club meetings are held in the college and career center. Here students will learn the basics of sign language such as the alphabet and simple phrases and questions. No previous experience is required, and it's welcome to all.
Drama Club- This club is open to all students who want to pursue the theatrical arts. You sing, dance, act, add design sets, help backstage and most importantly build connections with your peers. Try out for the fall play or spring musical to be more involved with EHS’s theater program.
The Talon- If you're reading this article, that may mean you are interested in joining the Talon! The Talon is EHS’s school newspaper written by students. The Talon will be having a table set up at the club fair this year, encouraging eager students with a passion for writing or looking for the inside scoop on school related, or unrelated topics to join. The Talon meets every Thursday after school, 2:30-3:15 in Mrs. Miles room, F236.
Environmental Club- Environmental club meets every Thursday in G101, join to learn about the environment, participate in volunteer opportunities, and meet new people.
FBLA- FBLA stands for the Future Business Leaders of America, this club is a chapter that is recognized under the national FBLA organization. Students in this club go to workshops, conferences, and compete in competitive events that interest each student. FBLA is welcome to all and even if business is not something you want to pursue, FBLA offers events such as graphic design, job interview, or journalism that students can participate in. FBLA is preparing the leaders of the future through engaging field trips and creative projects, this club is the perfect way to get involved at EHS, meetings are typically Thursday morning in J159, but the days may differ.
Gardening Club- The gardening club meets Mondays after school in H101.Come join if interested in gardening and working with plants and your friends.
Interact Club- Come to Mr. Newman’s room, G213, if you are interested in joining an Interact Club. Interact Club presents many different opportunities to work with the community for the better. Meeting days differ, you can check the club’s Instagram account for more information on when the club meets.
Key Club- Key club provides volunteer opportunities for students to help out in their community. This club is dedicated to creating tomorrow's leaders. If you are interested, Key Club meets every other Wednesday in F128.
Math Team- Math team is a great extension to get to learn more about different mathematical concepts before you even learn them in class. This club is a great opportunity for math lovers and builds a community of intellectuals.
Model UN- Model UN is a great opportunity to connect with new people about important issues in the world. This club stimulates what it's like in the United Nations to resolve these issues and come together to find a solution.
Morgan's Message- This club meets every Monday after school, 2:30-3:15 in Ms. Knox’s room G118 to advocate for student-athlete mental health. This club does various events and crafts to teach students about prioritizing mental health.
Outing Club- The EHS outing club focuses on going on adventures and exploring the outdoors. Meetings are every other Tuesday morning in C207.
Poetry Team- The Poetry team meets every Friday morning in Mr. Magliozzi's room, F129. The EHS Poetry team has weekly prompts for members to create a poem around. This club is perfect for those interested in poetry and building connections with your peers.
Psychology Club- This club meets the first and last Tuesday of every month in room G112. Psych club provides opportunities for students to come together and reflect while participating in fun activities such as crafts or cookie swaps.
Robotics- The EHS robotics club meets every Wednesday and select Thursdays in room J154 for robot designing, building, and competing, any skill levels are welcome.
Roots and Wings Collective- Roots and Wings Collective is a club made to lift voices to change the world. This club is all about equality and recognizing our roots, they meet Mondays in Mr. Tobey’s room, H214.
Student Senate- Student senate meets every Wednesday morning in the senate room, although each class has their own elected officers who are typically required to go to these meetings and be involved with senate, all students are welcome to attend the meetings and help out with different volunteer opportunities the senate has to offer.
Yearbook Club- Do you have an interest in photography or helping contribute to the yearbook? Then this club is perfect for you. Yearbook club meets Thursday mornings in G212, all are welcome.
Youth and Government Club- This club is open to anyone interested in government. You are able to go on trips to educate yourself on the functions of government and learn to engage in debates related to our political system. Meetings are every Monday after school in G203.
More clubs may be attending the club fair and are not listed, or some of the listed clubs may not be participating. It is definitely worth it to engage into these extracurriculars to pursue your interests and work side by side with your peers to get involved at Exeter High School.
