Huskies start the school year by bringing home a zone banner!
On September 11, EHI proudly sent one boys' foursome and one girls' foursome to the Oakwood Golf Course for the annual Zone 13 golf championships. The students enjoyed a fantastic day with perfect weather and a beautifully maintained course. We are incredibly proud of our student athletes. The boys' team secured a commendable second place, while the girls' team excelled, winning the Zone Championship and earning their spot in the provincial championships in Morden, MB, on September 20, 2024. A heartfelt thanks to our dedicated coaching staff and the Oakwood Golf Course for their support and hospitality. Congratulations to both our boys' team for their impressive second-place finish and our girls' team for their outstanding first-place victory. We look forward to another fun filled athletic year for all students from K-12.
Mme Michelle's Maternelle 1 class has started learning about patterns and sorting objects into groups. They are learning through centers and with a variety of manipulatives in the classroom.
Mme Aliane’s grade 3/4 students had fun creating their classroom community web by taking turns sharing some fun facts about themselves. This activity helped promote the idea of unity.
The grade 5 and 6 students in Mme Salina’s class created “self-confidence posters” to start off the year on a positive note by noticing all the positive things about ourselves!
Les élèves de neuvième année travaillent fort afin de terminer leur première unité de mathématiques au secondaire. Ils poursuivront le sens du nombre en étudiant les fractions au cours des prochaines semaines.
Grade 9 students are working hard to complete their first high school math unit. They will continue number sense by studying fractions over the next few weeks.
On Thursday, September 12, EHI welcomed the new school year with our first K-12 school assembly. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to reconnect, celebrate our core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Support, and meet the entire staff. Our K-9 students were enthusiastically challenged to design their own classroom expectations to foster positive choices, self-management, and daily success in their learning journey. We’re excited about the many opportunities ahead to build a strong sense of connection and belonging throughout the school year.
September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. We will be observing this on October 1st and we encourage students to wear an orange shirt on that day. We will also be welcoming Knowledge-Keeper Glenna Henderson on October 1st (for K to 6) and October 2nd (for grades 7 to 12). Thank you, Cookem Daisey!
RUE HÉBERT STREET PARKING
We want to bring your attention to a recent parking situation on Hébert Street that affected some members of our school community. It has been confirmed by the Village of St. Pierre that parking regulations allow for either 30 minutes or 2 hours, depending on the specific location. To support our families and staff, we’ve arranged for the parking tickets issued on September 19, 2024, to be revoked. If you received a ticket, please reach out to the office with your ticket number for assistance.
Starting Monday, September 23, please be aware that parking violations on Hébert Street will be enforced, so we encourage everyone to take note of the time limits.
We understand that parking can be challenging around the school. To help, we have an agreement with the Village of St. Pierre to use the parking lot alongside the arena. Just a friendly reminder: if there’s an event at the arena, such as a funeral, we’ll need to park elsewhere. If you choose to park by the arena, please wait for all buses to clear before leaving, or move your vehicle before they arrive around 3 PM.
Additionally, we have designated parking spots at the main doors for visitors, parents, and guests.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to create a positive environment for our school community. If you have any questions or need further information, don’t hesitate to reach out!
