Welcome to Kindergarten! These last few weeks, we have been busy working on our letters, numbers and colours in French. Every morning we start off by singing a couple songs in french, learning a new letter of the alphabet and learning the sound it makes in french. We also learn numbers and focus on counting in french. We have some new friends in the classroom; puppets that help us remember our colours we learn (Bob, Hugo and Léa). Every day, students work in different centers to work on a new skill in science, French, math and global or fine motor skills.
Mme Salina’s Grade 5 & 6 students have kicked off the school year with great energy and enthusiasm!
Our soccer practices have been lively as we get ready for the upcoming tournament on September 25. In the classroom, students “tasted” books during our book tasting event, sparking lots of curiosity and excitement for reading. We’ve also been reviewing math concepts through games and challenges, making learning both fun and engaging!
We had a very busy summer in the Physical & Health Education Department. Our gym saw some major cosmetic work with new flooring and a fresh paint job. The flooring now proudly displays our logo at center court and our name along the sidelines with a darker stain within the volleyball court. The weight room also saw changes with new doors allowing for separate access to the weight room and change rooms. All of the work was completed during the first week of September, right in the knick of time!
On September 26, our school came together to honor Truth and Reconciliation Day. Cookem Daisey led us in a smudge, and we gathered as a community in the music room to listen as she shared her story and spoke about the history and meaning of Orange Shirt Day.
It was a powerful opportunity for learning, reflection, and connection. We are grateful to M. Alex, Mme. Diane and Mme. Émilie for thoughtfully organizing this meaningful day.
