Colour Wars wrapped up on the final day before Spring Break with energy and excitement! Students kicked things off by completing an Escape Room challenge, unlocking their way to the much-anticipated egg hunt. Each egg they discovered contained fun selfie instructions to complete along the way.
Team Green, featured here, brought their creativity to life with a pyramid formation, a ninja pose, and some action-packed jumping shots! The celebration continued in the gym, where all teams came together for more games and friendly competition.
It was the perfect way to head into the break!
The last couple weeks have been busy in grade 1/2. Before spring break, we had so much fun with Scientists in Schools. We had a virtual workshop about materials and objects where we had to build a bridge and a shelter for our little animal.
The students finished their science unit on the 5 senses by building an instrument and explaining how we use our senses when using our instrument.
Outside at recess, we always have a lot of fun with our friends.
Everyday, we have our carpet time and the students take turns writing the message for the day. The grade 2s enjoy helping the grade 1s when they get their turn.
Mme Côté's highschool robotics class toured the Red River College Polytech on April 9th during the annual Manitoba Skills Competition.
During these competitions, secondary and post-secondary students participate in challenges designed to test their skills in technology and trades. Categories range from hairstyling to bricklaying with almost 100 winners earning their spot at the 2026 Skill Canada Nationals in Toronto.
Two of her grade 10 students, Matthew and Jaron, were even participants spending their day competing in the Mobile Robotics challenge! They did not come out on top, but are already excited for next year!
Our art room has been full of creativity and collaboration this past month! Thanks to a generous Southern Health grant, students across all grade levels have been working together to experience the beauty of creating a mosaic art piece to decorate our school. From our Kindergarten students carefully placing colourful flowers to our older students learning how to cut and arrange mosaic tiles and glass, everyone has played an important role in bringing this project to life!
Our Grades 3 to 6 students have also had some exciting artistic experiences beyond the classroom. They participated in a community event, Paint the Ice, where they used large paintbrushes and vibrant colours to transform the ice of the arena into a giant canvas. It was a fun and memorable way to explore art on a larger scale!
In addition, these students had the opportunity to visit the Winnipeg Art Gallery. For many, it was their first time experiencing an art gallery, where they explored beautiful Indigenous artworks and learned about the powerful stories they tell. As a reminder, the gallery offers free admission every second Sunday, an excellent opportunity for families to experience art together.
