Welcome to art class!
We’ve had such an exciting start to the year in the art room! Our kindergarten artists are exploring line while building paper sculptures, all while learning to use art tools safely and appropriately. Grades 1 to 6 are collaborating on a colorful bulletin board mural, each class designing a different animal, practicing tracing, cutting, and adding creative details to make their animals unique and interesting.
Grades 7 to 12 students have begun the year with collage, experimenting with materials, expressing their creativity, and learning to focus on principles of art, including creating a strong focal point in their work. In Pottery, students are discovering the history of pottery from around the world and have already made their own maker’s mark sticks, which they will use to identify the projects they create throughout the school year.
It’s clear that this year will be full of imagination, creativity, and growth, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing art our students will create!
Welcome to a new school year! Mme Diane's grade 1/2 class is busy learning about routines and practicing them. We have jumped into some of our routines right away. The students are enjoying doing the calendar and counting every day. We are also practicing our letters and sounds. They are practicing working and reading quietly.
The students enjoyed trying out centers this week as well.
This school year, we had the pleasure of welcoming 39 Grade 9 students as they began their high school journey. The excitement and pride were clearly visible on their faces. Throughout the day, students attended a series of orientation sessions designed to help them navigate their new environment. They learned about the high school credit system, reviewed key school rules (including dress code, phone use, and plagiarism), explored the wide range of clubs and sports available, and received practical tips on how to stay organized for success. Students also enjoyed a guided tour of the school facilities. To help ease the transition and foster new connections, the day featured a variety of fun icebreaker activities where students had the chance to get to know one another as well as their teachers.
